I'm afraid this is not very helpful, especially since no logs are provided. With regard to what would be helpful, you might want to read this: https://wiki.orangefox.tech/en/guides/report

No, I don't get it. I have no idea which ROM you are talking about, or which twrp, or which OrangeFox.

    Post [RECOVERY][OFFICIAL]OrangeFox Recovery Project [R11.1]

I don't think that flashing a persist.img should be part of normal use. It should only be done on the (very rare) occasions where that is the only thing that can solve a specific problem. I have only ever seen such an occasion once.

I've never seen any such bug - not even in MIUI.

What you are seeing is the version of Manager that comes with 21.4. You are free to update magisk if you want - but I can't speak for what will happen with any magisk update or how any update will interact with your ROM.

    Post Best ROM?

You are perfectly entitled to your own opinion. But perhaps you might want to backup your assertions with some evidence? And - I don't recollect receiving any test reports from you on the various beta releases.

I wouldn't have thought so. But you shouldn't have had any problem at all with the upgrade. I would have liked to see the logs of the installation, because nobody else seems to have encountered this problem, and I would like to know what is different at your end. It may just be a glitch...

OrangeFox R11.1 Stable released I have released OrangeFox R11.1 Stable. There are two versions: 1. A standard version - this should be used for custom ROMs only; 2. A MIUI-specific version (for MIUI 12 decryption). This "MIUI" version should ONLY be used with MIUI 12.x ROMs (unless the device...

    Post [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][11.0] Lineage OS 18.1 - Xiaomi A2 Lite

Thanks. I think you had a different problem. In any case, it seems that there is a flaw in the exFAT support that is now beginning to afflict new ROMs (ie, not just this one). Most older ROMs (before mid-March) don't have the problem and can read exFAT SDs quite fine. Probably something changed...

    Post [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][11.0] Lineage OS 18.1 - Xiaomi A2 Lite

Nice ROM. Unfortunately, it can't read my exFAT-formatted MicroSD card (wants to format it because there is an "Issue" with it). No thanks! There is nothing wrong at all with MicroSD card.

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][11][lavender] EvolutionX 5.7

I've had a similar experience with PE+ (A10), although I was able to recover the situation by rebooting to OrangeFox Recovery, and running the Magisk uninstaller addon to uninstall Magisk, and then flashing magisk 21.4 again. It is best to stick with whatever Magisk version works for you.

    Post [RECOVERY][OFFICIAL]OrangeFox Recovery Project [R11.1]

No. What it means is that the system partition will be included in the OTA backups made immediately after the ROM is flashed (and restored immediately before the OTA update is applied). The purpose is to ensure that OTA updates do not reject the system on grounds of checksum mismatches.

    Post TWRP Backup Keeps Failing

There is no reason why a MicroSD card would not work, if you have a good recovery. Best to format the MicroSD to exFAT.

    Post TWRP Backup Keeps Failing

The full details of the error will be in the log file - not the log screen. The system image is 4GB, so if your usb stick is formatted to fat32, then you might have problems.

    Post [OFFICIAL][RECOVERY]OrangeFox Recovery Project [R11.0]

On MIUI you can't mount system or vendor. And even if you manage to mount them, they will be read-only. That's how Xiaomi has implemented its dynamic partition stuff, and there is nothing to be done about it. I know of no reason why your internal storage should be read-only.

    Post [ROM][11][Daisy][OFFICIAL]Syberia Project

It would like to format my MicroSD card! No thanks! BTW: there is nothing wrong with the MicroSD card; this is probably a result of issue with exFAT support in the kernel .

I really wish people would stop repeatedly asking the same question, in all sorts of different ways. I have already given the definitive explanation about how to flash any ROM. I will reproduce the answer - yet again. Any further question about how to flash any ROM will simply be ignored.

Thanks for the offer. But my real reason for asking was to ascertain whether there is any need to try and maintain backward compatibility, or whether to forget older ROMs and move flat out to system-as-root+kernel 4.9

Post [ROM][A11][OFFICIAL][MIATOLL] crDroid 7.4 Alpha release

v7.4 would love to format my MicroSD card. No thanks! PS: the MicroSD card is perfectly fine - this might be indicative of an issue with the kernel's support for exFAT-formatted media. This problem does not exist in v7.3.

It seems that you really want to flog to death this notion of wiping system. The answer is exactly the same answer that has been given to the several posts you have made about this issue. I will repeat it for the last time: 1. There is no requirement to wipe system; 2. You cannot wipe system...

Flash the MIUI version of R11.0_1 Beta. Whether or not you need to format data after flashing MIUI 12.5 is a matter of trial and error.
