Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

You could try going back to the earlier 8.0 version of this ROM. I'm still on 8.0 with no battery issues. GPS doesn't work for me though.

Post Magisk General Support / Discussion

I'm having the same problem. I followed the prompts, but it failed to reinstall. I went through this process 5 times, and it failed every time. So I came here looking to see if anyone else was having this problem, and I saw your post. So following your advice I rebooted, and now magically it...

Post [GUIDE] Enable Notification LED for Moto G3 (for Charging status ONLY)

I recently switched to an AOSP ROM that does not have the charging light enabled. I had gotten very used to having it on when charging the last couple of years on the old Cyanogen Mod ROM I was on. I was away from the community here for about a year, but came back in order to upgrade my phone to...

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

I guess this particular FM Radio app doesn't work on 8.1 then. Either that or the AKP Extractor app that I used didn't work correctly.

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

So the Radio apk file I posted didn't work on 8.1? Were you able to install it all all, or would it not even flash correctly?
  6. S

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

OK as requested I managed to extract the FM Radio apk file using an app called APK Extractor from the Play Store. I've attached the file here for you. Let me know if it works. To address the question that came up about the gapps package I posted being for 8.0 and not 8.1 that is because I am...

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

As I previously said I couldn't find it within the gapps file, but if you think you can here is a link the entire package. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7s0rts32ku15gye/open_gapps-arm-8.0-micro-20171225.zip?dl=0

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

Yes it works great. When I installed this rom I did a clean install, and wiped everything except my SD card. So the radio app had to come from the gapps package I used if it isn't built in to the rom. I just find it odd that I don't see a separate package for it within the gapps zip file. In...

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

I opened my gapps zip file on my PC, and you are correct. I don't see a radio app in it, yet it is installed on my phone. If it's not part of the rom then I can't explain it. Could it somehow be part of the gapps package, but not have a separate file within it?

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

I assume the one labeled Aroma has the aroma installer, and lets you choose which apps you want. Is this correct?

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

Yeah you may want to try moving one level from nano to micro. Worst case if you get stuff you don't want you can always go back next time.

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

I have an FM radio app installed simply called "FM Radio". It must have come with the Gapps package I installed. There wasn't a listing of what came in the package. The package I used is named open_gapps-arm-8.0-micro-20171225. I'm still on the 8.0 build. So this Gapps package is for 8.0...

Yes that was my understanding as well. However I misread rahul's post, and thought he was trying to say that it did work with this particular camera. I just read his post wrong. No worries though as I like this updated camera, and plan to keep it. After reading through, and catching up on...

I just tried the camera here you provided the link for. It seems like a nice upgrade to the older Moto Camera, but on this rom the video doesn't work for me, only the stills. Overall though I like it. Thanks for pointing me to it.

Well then it certainly won't be happening for me, lol. Oh well. I can live without it. It's the only thing I miss from the old rom.

I'd be happy if there was a way I could simply hack a file somewhere to do it myself. Unfortunately I lack the knowledge.

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

One more thing I thought of that would be really nice. I'd love to see the charging light be put to use. I got kind of spoiled with the old Cyanogenmod rom I ran for the last year. I got used to the light being on when charging. I'd love to see that on by default. I don't even care if I...

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

So out of curiosity is there a release schedule for this rom, or just as the dev has time? I'm really liking it so far. It runs very smooth. So I'm very much looking forward to seeing how things progress, and really there isn't much to work out. I'm having the same issues as everyone else...

It seems I owe some donations too. I'll have to try one of those cameras you listed. I also noticed that GPS Status can't get a lock. I think someone else mentioned that already though. Still a lot of things are working better for me than the last rom I was on. I'm pretty impressed...

Thanks again for the info. You know the funny thing is that I wasn't even going to bother rooting the phone this time around. I'm not really doing anything that requires it these days. In fact the reason I chose this rom is that I just wanted a simple stock like Oreo rom. How silly that I...

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

Thank you for the information. I didn't know some apps were being blocked now. It was been awhile since I've played with any roms. I was still on an old Cyanogen Mod rom, and that one didn't have any issues with blocked apps. I am not familiar with Majisk, so I'll definitely check it out.

Post [ROM][osprey] The Android Open Source Project 8.1

It has been a long time since I installed a rom on my phone, at least a year and a half. So I decided tonight to give this one a try. The installation went pretty smoothly, and things seem to be running well for the most part with one exception. I can't install Netflix, not through Google or...

Did that. Reformatted partitions too. I started completely fresh multiple times, and have tried different gapp packages. That I haven't tried. I don't even know what that is, but will certainly try it next time. For the next couple of weeks I'll probably leave well enough alone though as I...

Yes of course. I download the md5 file each time, and put it in the directory with the ROM. This way TWRP checks that it matches. The Dec. 24th and earlier builds are stable for me. Any build afterwards is not. I've tried with multiple Gaaps packages, and eliminated all other items. It has to...

    Post [ROM][6.0.1][osprey] Official CyanogenMod 13

I tried a clean install of the 20160305 build today, and as I expected upon first boot I can't get past the initial setup. The phone crashes, and reboots, and then I end up in a boot loop. The last build that is stable for me is the 20151224 build, which I have now gone back to. I have tried...

Well guys I was going to try to get you a logcat regarding my reboot issues. I had tried the 1/16 build, and playing a YouTube video would induce a reboot every time. However before I could get the logcat the phone started spontaneously rebooting non-stop again. It has done this to me every...

    Post [ROM][6.0.1][osprey] Official CyanogenMod 13

So I haven't flashed back to the 12/24 build yet. I was wondering if there is a log that generates when the phone crashes. Since I can reproduce the crash immediately by playing a YouTube video I thought maybe I could post a log here. I just don't know where to look for it, or what it would be...

Flashed the 1/16 update, and am having stability problems again. It seems with each build after 12/24 I run in to reboot issues. With this build if I attempt to watch a YouTube video the phone crashes, and reboots. I've uninstalled YouTube, and reinstalled, but no change. So for now I think I...

I ended up having to roll back to the Dec 24th build. On the Jan 5th build I started getting random reboots, and after a few days got stuck in a boot loop. Yes I only see one paid, and one free app within the Cyanogen themes store. However this really doesn't matter. There are tons of themes available on the Google Play Store. Just search for CM12 or CM13 themes, and you won't be disappointed. Once installed from Google Play you can apply themes...

Thanks for making this package! I had initially flashed the official c-apps package, but as I am running CM13 I had the same problem you mentioned with the dialer crashing, and I had to wipe system, and re-flash my ROM. So I was happy to find your modified package. I didn't even want the dialer...

Post [NANDROID] Motorola Marshmallow Soak test v5 - Dec 13 - makes other phones jelleh!!

Well said. I am aware of all of this. What I didn't understand is that the OTA for the soak test would only target the IMEI numbers for the official testers. I thought if one was running the soak, and had the stock recovery that would be enough to get the OTA. Thank you for the clarification.

Post [NANDROID] Motorola Marshmallow Soak test v5 - Dec 13 - makes other phones jelleh!!

Interesting that the OTA would discriminate based on the current version that one has. Well in my case it doesn't matter at this point. V5 crashed out on me, and I couldn't get it fixed. So I'm on CM13 now.

Post [NANDROID] Motorola Marshmallow Soak test v5 - Dec 13 - makes other phones jelleh!!

I would think the OTA would work just fine as long as you still have the stock recovery installed. The official testers have to get the final somehow, so I doubt the OTA would be disabled.

Warning: If you flash the Cyanogen OS apps package it breaks the dialer. What happens is the dialer crashes when you make, or receive a phone call. What does work though is the individual app themer. That actually is pretty fantastic. I use a transparent theme which is really awesome, but in...

Updating to the v5 modem seems to have solved the wonky WiFi issues I was having. Now however I'm not getting group text messages. I just flashed the v5 modem via Fastboot. It seems to be working correctly. I haven't made a phone call yet, but I have LTE signal, and WiFi is working. I'm hoping this solves the WiFi issues I've been having, but will need some time to see if things are better or not.
