There's not going to be any benefit to pulling software from his device. Production vs development status is determined via qfprom, and you won't be unblowing any fuses.

Post [Android][Unlock/S-OFF] SunShine for modern Motorola & HTC devices

Considering s-off is only temporary, there's no safe way to set the (rooted) device back to locked as the device would be soft-bricked at that point. Depending on what was changed while the device was s-off and/or unlocked, there would be situations where devices would be unrecoverable. As such...

It's permanent until the daemon figures out you're modified again. If you use magisk for root, will likely stay "official" indefinitely. If kernel devs or magisk would remove the tamper daemon from the boot ramdisk, that would be nice also.

No I have a regular production device. Just like normal, I don't use Xposed and never mounted system RW so just flashing back the stock boot img worked fine for me...same as on previous devices. One other possibility is my device shows status official (sunshine does that), maybe the ota update...

That answer is easy. The bugs you've seen publicly disclosed are long patched. In fact the E2 (and E for that matter) were never vulnerable.

Instructions are in the initroot thread. Also, the reason sunshine hung for you is fine you didn't install magisk manager, as the instructions also indicate you must do.

You need to simply follow the instructions for removing initroot to solve the bootloop problem. You don't need to flash anything.
