Did you flash back to stock before installing this kernel, as directed by the flashing instructions?

That addresses installation, thanks. But not the question of necessity.

So, I'm late to this party. How do I switch from last johnwu canary build to the alpha builds? And do I even need to if nothing is broken with the canary build for me?

    Post [ROM][STOCK][FASTBOOT][OP7P] Stock Fastboot ROMs for OnePlus 7 Pro/ 7 Pro 5G

I've got a TMO OP7P that I converted to INternational. All was fine on Android 10, but after upgrading to international Android 11, I had crazy screen issues when it would sleep/wake/switch to and from 60hz and 90hz refresh rates. Putting it back on the TMO software seems to have helped. YMMV

More you just wait for OnePlus to get back to you. They will email you a file specific to your phone, and you'll use fastboot to first send that file, then to OEM unlock. Now is a good time to start copying any data you want to keep to a PC, as the unlock process will wipe your phone.

That's a carrier unlock, which means you can use it on a different cell provider's network.. It is not a bootloader unlock. My Spanish is very bad, but I will try to help. You need to request a bootloader unlock from OnePlus using this page .. https://www.oneplus.com/unlock_token

Unlock it first. Then get your unlock token from OnePlus and unlock the bootloader. Then, flash international if you're wanting that

Post [RECOVERY][3.4.0-10][U][guacamole]Official/Unofficial TWRP recovery for OnePlus 7 Pro

A decrypted phone can be read from a PC without entering the screen unlock. Potentially dangerous, yes. Highly likely to happen, no. Also incredibly improbable that someone would attempt to boot to twrp on a found phone. That seems even more unlikely than someone plugging the phone in to read...

Post [RECOVERY][3.4.0-10][U][guacamole]Official/Unofficial TWRP recovery for OnePlus 7 Pro

Thanks. It's been a while since I've used my old guacamole, and I could have sworn that recovery being baked into boot.img and not being a separate partition caused fastboot boot to not work. That was one of my biggest frustrations with that device, apart from the pop up camera no longer opening.

Post [RECOVERY][3.4.0-10][U][guacamole]Official/Unofficial TWRP recovery for OnePlus 7 Pro

As far as I remember, fastboot boot doesn't work with the 7 Pro. You have to fastboot flash
  18. RandomPooka

Post Magisk General Support / Discussion

It's systemless because it doesn't modify the system partition by default. Android checks the partition integrity at boot on most new devices. It didn't in the earlier versions of Android. You could literally just add root permissions right to the system and have no problems. Since that is no...

    Post [KERNEL] [blu_spark r110 OP8/Pro/T] [A11 OOS]

You'll certainly need to unlock your bootloader for this. *** THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE *** BACK UP IMPORTANT THINGS FIRST *** You don't have to permanently root your phone, since the OP8 allows you to use 'fastboot boot' to just boot a rooted stock kernel, which you can then use to install...

Fkm makes a backup you can restore with the app or fastboot. Just be sure to copy it to the PC before flashing a new kernel, so you have it there in case of boot loop. Kernel still running without issue after about a day. Haven't really been away from a charger, so I'm not able to comment on...

JFC, that's a kernel that fixes issues with a bundled kernel. Did you not even read what I wrote? I don't know what axe you have to grind, or why. But go away and grind it somewhere else instead of looking even more like a fool than you already do. At least pay attention to the post you're...

I don't frequently download all available kernels and check the zip file contents just for funsies. Unless a custom kernel adds a specific feature you need that's lacking in the kernel bundled with the ROM or the stock kernel if you're running stock, I wouldn't bother using one. In the last 10...

Put your phone in fastboot mode: (there's plenty of ways. I'm not explaining that part) fastboot boot (kernelname.img) <-- for testing. It doesn't actually write the image to the device, it just loads it into memory and boots that kernel fastboot flash (kernelname.img) <-- once you test it and...

Post [RECOVERY][3.4.0-10][U][guacamole]Official/Unofficial TWRP recovery for OnePlus 7 Pro

Yeah, vendor too. Forgot that one. It won't hurt to back up modem and EFS, but I wouldn't restore them unless you have a backup of the ones on your main phone. Modem shouldn't cause trouble. EFS .. I can't remember. Haven't used this device in some time.

Post [RECOVERY][3.4.0-10][U][guacamole]Official/Unofficial TWRP recovery for OnePlus 7 Pro

Before you make the backup on your test, set screen lock to "swipe" or "none", unless you are running decrypted. Backup system, data, boot, and recovery (if that exists). Cache will rebuild itself. When you copy the backup to the main phone, you might need to just move the single backup folder...

Your restored backup would think it was the other phone, I believe. Other than the sim/imei which are hardcoded. Don't know if that would be bad, though. I wonder about running both devices simultaneously in that case. Might cause weird things to happen with syncing and such. Wouldn't matter if...
