I see my reverse cam in the Cam Rec app even when I am not in reverse. How did you wire the camera? If it's powered by the reverse lights then it's not going to work unless you are in reverse.

I have the 9in CC3. When I get home I will take a piece of paper and a crayon and put it over my screen and trace the edges of the unit and then scan it to a PDF which you should be able to print to scale and then cut out. This would give you the exact shape and not just the HxW.

I have the opposite experience. CarPlay calls are awful but native Bluetooth calls sound fine. I de-soldered the onboard mic and it didn’t improve the CarPlay call quality at all. I’ll probably solder it back on. When I’m on a call in CarPlay I can hit the back button which will force close the...

Hmm.. this is interesting. So you literally snapped the mic off the board with a flat head? I'm curious if the issue is related to the noise cancelation. I'm curious if simply covering the onboard mic with tape would have similar results. It would be nice if there were some options for the mic...

To avoid confusion, the firmware is distributed as a RAR file. Within the RAR is a ZIP. The ZIP within the RAR does NOT need to be unzipped.

He says "darkmod". I was talking about Launcher Pack which according to their website is compatible with the CC3. It's good to know you can pay them with PayPal though.

One thing that bugs me about pure touch screen head units is the lack of a physical volume knob. I drive a car with very stiff suspension so pinpointing the volume buttons with my hand bouncing around is challenging. The new multi-touch gestures in this new firmware are a good replacement for a...

Because it has a large screen and nice integrated look. I also wanted to be able to run native Android apps for a few tasks. I got the 3GB version because anything less sucks on Android in my experience and anything more would have been overkill for my needs.

I'm not that perficient with Android and especially not these FYT head units. Which launcher do you prefer? I'm not at all impressed with the Teyes launcher either. The little icon tray is the only thing I use. I'd much rather have a full screen with app icons to work with. I don't care about a...

I came across this which looks like it offers a lot of customization of the launcher but unfortunately it's not free and I'm unable to find a way to pay for it from the United States. I have a Russian friend with family still in Russia, eventually I will see if she can help me out...

It seems to take a while to connect sometimes but once connected it’s been fairly reliable for me so far. Call quality is complete garbage in CarPlay though unless you do FaceTime Audio. But this seems to be a common issue even with OEM CarPlay setups.

The fact that you are asking makes me want to say yes. Here is a picture of the chip. If you are capable of soldering small components like that then go for it.

Only CC3's made after December have the chip needed for CarPlay. If you search this thread for "CarPlay" you will see how someone added this chip on their own for $5 and got CarPlay working: https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1004230

I have a sub in my trunk and used the RCA sub out to drive it. I'm trying to configure the HP/LP filters for the sub along with the HP/LP filters for the front and rear channels. If I understand correctly the front, rear and sub should all work independent of each other but that hasn't been my...

Okay cool. I got my HU installed and used the APK you linked and it’s working perfect for wired and wireless CarPlay. Thanks!

Post Chromecast with Google TV Ethernet and USB Hub Questions

The key is to get a USB-C charger with PD support. A dumb charger will not work regardless of it's amperage. The issue is with the hub not the Chromecast. You plug the power into the hub and then it passes power through but if it isn't a PD adapter it doesn't do the handshake properly to know...

You can do a lot with Shortcuts but turning on hotspot discoverability isn’t one of them which I really don’t understand. If I could do it with a shortcut I would use the BT connect to the HU as the trigger or maybe place a NFC tag in the car as a trigger.

I’m on iOS unfortunately. Apple has added lots of automation to iOS in the past few years but they are crazy stingy with letting people do anything that would negatively impact battery life. They treat us like idiots but in reality the average user is actually an idiot. Hahaha

I calculated 3.8GB. I haven’t found any plans that cheap. I will look into Mint. Edit: This is a way better deal but I’m still not sure I want to pay $20/mo (in yearly increments to get that price) when I already have a 65GB plan on my phone. I just noticed you can activate hotspot...

This is really terrible. I did some research on getting a plan for a head unit and it looks like it will cost around $60 USD per month for enough data to handle Spotify at 320Kbps for my average commute to and from work. That is rediculous so obviously tethering it the only reasonable option but...
