Post Nvidia has PAUSED OREO UPDATE for Shield TV!

I was one of the people with "a few issues" I updated mine last night and now I can't get past the Android boot screen (the 4 animated circles). Waited for 2 hours. I'm hoping I can get it into fastboot and FDR it.

It would seem so. I will probably try to talk them out of it. I would rather have them escalate a fix.

Motorola just replied to my support request saying that they are going to replace my phone! I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

Thread USB Issues with Oreo 8.1

Just got the Oreo 8.1 update on my Project Fi Moto X4 (Motorola Version: OPW28.46-13). The phone does not show up in Windows anymore. No MTP, no ADB. It does charge. I've tried it on two different PCs. It was working seconds before applying the update. The cable does work properly with an...

    Post Poor Reception

So, what's interesting is that the phone does not list 1700/2100, which is T-Mobile (In Denver). It only lists 1900 (AT&T). Could that be part of the problem? FYI: It's *#*#4636#*#*

You should be able to stream from the Videos screen by pressing the Play (triangle) button. If the video file type is not natively supported by Android (e.g. MKV, AVI), you may need a third party player. For further support, please contact me via the Help screen by tapping Homesoft

I just added the spin down command on disconnect. It works well with my WD, but I need to test it with other drives. Strange, it only seems to work on WD drives. My Seagate just ignored it. Flash drives ignore it, but that makes sense.

Post Android 4.3 Nexus Media Importer

Normally you would get a message, but I assume you have ES Explorer installed. It has a "feature" where it claims support for every stream. Since you didn't have anything else that supported that stream type, it started downloading it. Yeah, AVI and MKV are not natively supported by Android...

Post [HOWTO] Write to media card (secondary storage) from an app under Android 4.4 KitKat

I just got 4.4.2 on m G Tab 8.3. I can't do a File.mkdir(), but I could do it from the command line. I could also do a cp. Maybe they are doing a Runtime.exec()? Update. Just tried that. Did not work, permission denied. Weird that that shell user can, but an app user can't.

My best guess is the video is not muxed right. If it's an MP4/M4V, the util in this post should fix it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48377689&postcount=299 If it's an MKV, you can try running it through MKVMerge (GUI).

Post [ROM] [4.4.4] CM11.0/SGT7 for the Kindle Fire [20140719]

OTG Support Resolved? I while back, I posted requesting OTG support. I made an interesting discovery today. This ROM does have OTG support. The problem is that it is very limited. Using OTG Troubleshooter I tested a number of devices and only a few worked. If your USB device is compatible...

Great minds. I bumped my internal buffer up to 1MB. It actually made it worse. 64K seemed little better, but I don't want to drop down to 32K. My guess is that the way it was muxed caused it to constantly create and drop connections. The util above fixes it and it's fairly painless.

Fixing Stuttering MP4/M4V Videos If a video is not muxed for streaming it may stutter when streamed from NMI. This little util based on MP4Box should fix it. It's designed for m4v/mp4, but may work with other formats. To use it: Unzip Drag the stuttering file on top of MakeFastStart (Not...

Post [app]Nexus 7 External Flash Picture Viewer & Media Streamer

NMI has a fairly small read-ahead buffer, 128K. It assumes the most of the buffering will be handled by the players. I assume that the problem is that streams are generally not random access where the other playback methods are. FYI: It stutters being streamed from my Seagate Satellite...

Just got 4.4.2 and tried a full blu-ray rip (not transcoded). It didn't miss a beat. This will test your throughput. I'm getting about 8400 K/s with my Meenova. That 1GB file should be a good test.

I have not received 4.4.1 yet, so I can't test with the latest and greatest. Do you know the format of the video file (MKV, H264, AC3)? If you get back to me with that, I can probably dig up a test file and maybe even force 4.4.1.

Post [app]Nexus 7 External Flash Picture Viewer & Media Streamer

It sounds like your OTG cable is bad or broken. Try a USB Mouse to see if that works. If not, get a new OTG. In rare occasions, the actual microUSB port can go bad as well. I don't own a Note 2, so The OTG Troubleshooter cable detection probably won't work properly. If someone was but if...

It may work, but I strongly recommend using a powered USB Hub if you are going to do this. It is a bad idea to connect a bus powered USB drive to your phone. If you hear the hard drive clicking or spinning up and down, stop immediately.

    Thread OTG Functionality?

Any of you lucky HDX owns know if it supports USB OTG (MicroUSB to normal USB)? I've seen some specs saying it does. If so: Does it support a USB keyboard/mouse? Does it support Mass Storage? (Flash Drives/Card Readers) If #2, what file systems? FAT, NTFS, exFAT?

Sometimes it depends on the carrier. Some will disable it. FYI: The "?" just means cable detection may not work. It appears on everything but a Nexus 7, Nexus 10 or Xoom. If USB Host is not detected, it will not work, so I should just change it to an "X".

Check in Control Panel -> Device Manager and see if the device shows up. If it does, you may need to reinstall the drivers. If it does not show up there and NMI does not work, you may damaged the data pins on the microUSB port and it may need repair.

I have got the "Y" cables to work, but it takes some fiddling like you describe. If you connect the power first, the Nexus goes into charging mode and shuts down the OTG. This is a Nexus thing and I can't do anything about it. I have had a similar issue with Seagate drives. I had to connect...
