    Thread [APP][OSS] Fake GPS Path

I was trying to test out different things that required a moving GPS position - obviously that's hard to do when you need to go driving around to do it! Currently fake GPS apps just show a single fake location - no path or movement - useless! So if anybody else was in my position - this problem...

    Thread [APP] FileSlick v1.7

Hey guys. Some of you might know me from my z4root app - anyway, I had some free time this week and cooked up a new filemanager app. It uses a nice gesture based navigation system that I haven't seen used before. I'm upping it here to XDA first to get some feedback. Check it out and see if you...

    Thread [APP] Visual Traceroute

Current traceroute options for Android were a bit poor (short of opening up a command line and running nmap from there!), so here is a nice little app for doing a traceroute using nmap (if you have root, uses ping if you don't). Bonus - it shows the hops on a map where geoip information is...

    Thread [ROM][wip] aosp

The first non-Samsung ROM for the SGS2! This is 100% stock AOSP from Google. What works: - It boots up. - Stock launcher. - OpenGL - Vibration - Phone Radio (Incl SMS) - Internal Storage / SD Card What doesn't work: - Wifi, Bluetooth - Sound. - Cameras. - Sensors. This is at least a proof...

    Thread [Q] Hack Friendly?

It's hard to see from the developer section, so I was hoping someone could answer: How friendly is the GTab for building kernels/loading them onto the device/hacking around? Since there are custom kernels it's obviously possible - but how much of the source is open? Is anything locked down...

    Thread [REF] zImage Initramfs

Very basic guide to extract the initramfs from the zImage, as well as a dump of the initramfs inside I9100XEKDB firmware. Q: Why? This is simple! A: Might help someone out! :D Linux Bash script follows (standard initramfs extract script) : pos=`grep -F -a -b -m 1 --only-matching...

    Thread [REF] SGS2 PIT File

SGS2 has changed a lot from SGS1 with filesystems, since there is no RFS anymore. The PIT file looks pretty different now too. GANG : emmc.img BOOT : boot.bin EFS : efs.img SBL1 : Sbl.bin SBL2 : bl.bin (?) PARAM : param.lfs KERNEL : zImage RECOVERY : (blank, unlike SGS1 which was a copy of...

If anybody here doesn't mind testing, could you check out the following thread and test the new z4mod app on your Fascinate? I only have an I9000, but the app (and lagfix) should work fine on the Fascinate as well. Let me know please! :)...

    Thread [APP][ABANDONED] z4mod

Alright, here is the z4mod app at long last! This release needs a lot of testing for different devices still, so make sure you check the compatibility table below unless you know how to use Odin to flash back your original kernel. Thanks for helping to test this! This is still in beta! If you...

Having trouble rooting your phone? This might be just for you! Credits z4ziggy Sebastian Krahmer's rageagainstthecage What this does It is an app you install (currently you must side load it, but it will be on the market once it's had some testing here on XDA), that has a single button...

    Thread OCLF Tab Support

Since the SGS variants and the Tab are very similar, the OCLF app should work with only minor changes. And here is a version with these minor changes. Thread [REF] Investigation Into PIT Files

There is very little technical information on PIT files , so this thread is an attempt to find out some real details about PIT files, and perhaps eventually be able to create our own PIT files (by modifying Samsung ones, probably). First, what we think we know PIT files do: - PIT files only...

    Thread [Q] OneNAND Wear Leveling

This is the stuff we have in the SGS. We know (well, Samsung claims) that the MoviNAND has wear leveling, so replacing the RFS in /data is a no brainer. However, a lot of Linux/Android is sitting inside the /system partition. STL9 should be the OneNAND described above, and it is shared across...

    Thread Reality behind RFS Lag

This is probably missing a lot of facts that we haven't uncovered yet. When we learn more, we can update what we know here Background All data is stored on an 8gb or 16gb MoviNAND chip, of which 2GB is 'system data', and the rest is for user storage. The MoviNAND is one of the first mobile...

Thread [Q] OCLF and my unmountable internal SD card

OCLF doesn't touch /sdcard (or any partitions at all), so your problem is likely something else. It sounds like you have the normal froyo I9000M problems... JPC stock doesn't work on the I9000M. Just flash back to the stock I9000M 2.1 firmware and it should all work fine again.

Thread [APP] OCLF 2.2 with Kernel Installer

I will update this to BETA status when I have some confirmations of all the functions working. It will be upgraded to RELEASE status...

Thread Brute forcing the manufacturer cert for froyo recovery console?

Does anybody know how feasible it would be to brute force the manufacturer cert in the new froyo recovery console? In Eclair, the standard test certificate worked fine, but now in froyo you need a genuine certificate. There is a java API to verify a file signed with a cert - this should mean...

Thread [APP] One Click Lag Fix APK - 2.0 (UNSUPPORTED development halted)

OneClickLagFixV2PLUS inside the app is currently in RELEASE status. It has been tested on a fairly enormous number of devices without issue. This is an APK (Normal Android App) that will install an EXT2 lag fix for you. The APK itself can support a number of different lag fixes. It currently...

While I've done this on a PC before, I've never tried this on Android, and I'm not sure if anything changes, so I thought I'd ask for advice! :) This is how the internal SD card is partitioned at stock (8GB model): [/data (RFS) 2GB][ /sdcard (FAT32) 6GB ] This is how it is...

Thread [REF] Disable Wifi On Screen Off

Some people have picked up an annoying bug - I'm not sure where it comes from, some believe it is the voodoo kernel, I think it is probably JPC firmware or similar. The bug: When you have wifi on and you turn the screen off, wifi does not turn off like it should. The reality: The wifi...

    Thread [APP] RealBench

Okay, I got sick of using Quadrant for benchmarking filesystem improvements, so I spent the last hour or so on this: RealBench! It's pretty crappy right now, but I plan to add all kinds of different (hopefully) real-world-ish benchmarks. For now it has just one benchmark -- a benchmark that...

Thread [UTIL] One Click Lag Fix

This software is currently in BETA status! This means that a lot of people have tested, and reported good results. Thread Text to Speach Ring Tone Possible?

There seems to be lots of free and open source text to speach code out there: http://sig.levillage.org/?p=551 So, wouldnt it be cool to have your universal say 'Incoming call from <contact name>' instead of your usual ring tone? It gets right around the problem of having to open up the screen...

Thread Low Power Warning in WM5

When your power gets low in WM5, it pops up that annoying low power warning thing every few minutes, making whatever you need to do difficult. Worse, it turns off your SD card too. This pretty much cuts the effective batter life of the device by a good 5-10%... Im assuming this is a holdover...
