    Post Temp Root Verizon Bounty

blueyes and I were discussing this in a thread a while back. We found that /data/system/users/0.xml may be the controlling factor here. However, I believe root would still be needed. So probably not any help. You can see the full discussion here...

    Post [Q] Edit system/framework/services.jar ?

The reason you're not seeing the classes.dex file in any of the jar files is because the system is odexed. The classes.dex file is actually services.odex in /system/framework/oat/arm64.

Post Verizon Pixel XL- Toggling the oem unlock switch *SOLVED*

I still want to know what in the stock rom triggers it and what it looks for. Reason being because AOSP/CM roms won't help when you're stuck on stock with a locked BL when there is no temp root.

Post Verizon Pixel XL- Toggling the oem unlock switch *SOLVED*

Looks like that last line needs a bit flipped... Pretty sure dePixel8 is using a temp root method (dirty cow?) and flipping the bit in the FRP partition to allow the unlock to happen then.

Post Flash Stock Google Pixel ROM on Verizon Model?

The updates still come from Google, regardless of where you bought the device. In fact, if you had a google store version of the pixel witha verizon sim, you would still get the X build as it has a different radio tuned for VZW.
  20. D

Post Verizon Pixel XL- Toggling the oem unlock switch *SOLVED*

Yes! I was thinking the FRP partition had a role in this. I was reading how people on Nexus 5x/6p that locked their BL while having a custom rom and recovery can actually flash a frp image from recovery to unlock the bootloader again.

Post Bootloader - Verizon or Generic?

The Google Pixel has no Verizon markings even when its been purchased from VZW. Anyway, easiest way to check is to enable developer options and check to see if you can slide the 'OEM Unlock' switch.

Maybe it still sends the IMEI/CID to VZW? But i don't know. Jcase says the CID doesn't do anything on these phones. But I feel like the CID does something, we just don't know it yet. I mean why else would the 2 models have different CIDs (most likely). I posted on reddit asking for someone...

I'm guessing one of the unlock properties is what did it. I think something on the phone is recognizing it as a VZW model and is setting one of the properties to 0 and graying it out. I'll do some digging this weekend
