    Post [UNOFFICIAL][11] LineageOS 18.1 w/ microG patch for Pixel 4a (sunfish) (20210610)

Peter, I'd like to thank you for your hard work. I've compiled and flashed the latest version based on your three repositories (no further patches required), and it's working great. I need to investigate a slight battery drain that happens even in airplane mode but that is far from being a...

    Thread Unbrick with QFIL

Hello all, I'm currently looking for the file "WW-ZS620KL-80.02.32.7-FAC-for-QMSCT-eng-20180516155727-factory.Zip" to unbrick in 9008 mode with QFIL. Unfortunately the only working link, to Google drive, is protected and requires access. If someone has this file (and the firehost programmer...

Maybe it's just me, but unfortunately the nexus 5x unbrick files from Aryk do not seem to work. Comparing the certificate between prog_emmc_firehose_8992_lite.mbn and an official sbl1, several differences appear: SBL1: Subject: CN=jongrak.kwon, OU=General LGE attestation, O=LGE, L=GEUMCHEON...

That's great news, and also 100% correct! I removed the back cover and flex in order to remove the battery, but then saw the battery was super hard to remove without damage and gave up ;) By the way I should have read the forums, many many people like me had issues with the LG reflashing tool...

Post [q] bricked/dead phone?? To mobiletechvideos???

I'm sure the situation can be resolved without going to such extremes. I had MobileTechVideos install the unbrickable mod a couple years ago and it went fine, which is why I'm surprised about this current situation. I doubt Josh and Jennifer are deliberately defrauding customers, and unless...

Possibly your kernel lacks the necessary support. For instance people with a Nexus 5 can flash this kernel: http://d-h.st/mmb (thanks to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/radio-enable-lte-band-3-nexus-5-d820-t2928561). About what the OP said: I can't see why...

Post [q] bricked/dead phone?? To mobiletechvideos???

Hi! I'm afraid not. But I guess it should with the shortcircuit trick in the thread mentioned earlier! It's also good to know JTAG access is enabled in some models, unfortunately after some research it looks like the d802 (international) is one of those without access.

Post [q] bricked/dead phone?? To mobiletechvideos???

LG G2 unbrick Hi, I just sent my dead LG G2 to mobiletechvideos, but I was slightly concerned as the page https://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/lg-g2-brick-repair-service/ does not mention JTAG, and my phone does not respond at all on USB. Although Jennifer mentioned in the reply that a...

Post LG - worst phone brand - never dealing with them again!

To share my experience, I bricked my LG G2 by reflashing a stock ROM, a process which never failed on any Samsung phone I tried, but here failed at 7% (first try). And looking at the forums I'm not the only one. The bootloader gets in a state where it does not respond at all on USB, so I guess...

Post [SECURITY] [APP][WIP] IMSI Catcher/Spy Detector

E:V:A, I'm unsure what the CI will ultimately provide, since in any case it's really up to the baseband whether or not to provide information re/ the current ciphering. More interesting is the actual ciphering state (which is provided on LG phones, although I didn't look further into it).

    Post A minimalist - stock - ROM

I agree, one should be very careful. When doing the tests over adb, I made sure not to reboot the phone, instead I would kill system_server to test what change disabling/reenabling an apk would do (I guess at worst I would have had to restore the backup from CWM). Nonetheless the list of APK...

Post [SECURITY] [APP][WIP] IMSI Catcher/Spy Detector

I know you are upset, and it's true a majority of people don't care about the baseband aspects if it "just works". Post LG's Engineering Mode (HiddenMenu.apk)

Hi E:V:A, AFAIK it is a MDM9x25. Unfortunately LG Terms of use, which I agreed to, prohibit me from redistributing, disassembling or decompiling their binaries. However there are two points to note: HiddenMenu can be found in some stock ROM that have been made available on this site by...

    Post LG's Engineering Mode (HiddenMenu.apk)

Understanding how the Engineering Mode works TBD - I might add information at some point here on how to use strace to peek at the QMI requests rild makes. It's worth noting this application could be ported to the Nexus 4/5, since it appears from looking at the strings in the baseband LG also...

    Post LG's Engineering Mode (HiddenMenu.apk)

Network Management / NAS (Non Access Stratum) This mode is fairly interesting, mostly due to its reporting of the current ciphering algorithm in use. However in packed switched mode (PS) this indicator seems limited to GPRS/EDGE (below, it appears the network uses GEA/3). In circuit switched...

2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) radio information You will note some of these screenshots have some blurry areas: this was done on purpose by myself, to anonymize the data. Post LG's Engineering Mode (HiddenMenu.apk)

How to access the Engineering Mode The first thing to note is that the Engineering Mode view, provided by HiddenMenu.apk, relies on specific modifications LG added to the framework, more specifically the sending and receiving of RIL_OEM_HOOK_RAW. Hence, contrary to the SamsungServiceMode.apk...

    Post A minimalist - stock - ROM

I agree. As a first step you can always have a look at the manifest, run strings on the .odex and also examine the APK's resources (strings, layouts). This usually provides enough information without resorting ti disassembly/decompiling, which is prohibited by LG's Terms of Use.

I really like the stock ROM and wanted to keep it, but decided to removed the bloatware. Here is the result, which you can use for the purpose of making your own minimalist ROM...

Post Hack your S3 Mini with the serial port

Hi flentus, Your setup looks correct to me. I don't remember the connections I made, but you can simply connect RX to D- and then switch to D+ if you don't get output on D-. GND on the PL2303 must be connected to the USB GND, which is a black wire (not the shield). If it still doesn't work...

Post Hack your S3 Mini with the serial port

Hi flentus, I don't think you can do it with a micro-USB cable, you need the beakout board from Sparkfun. The reason is, the cable most likely does not contain a wire for the ID, which is absolutely necessary otherwise the USB port won't switch to uart. Wrt the prolific cable, it should be...

Post [Q] Unbricking the unbrickable Nexus S (i9023)

By the way the other choice (in the drop down menu) which is Nexus S, in theory the proper choice, did not lead to a successful fastboot mode, the phone became totally unresponsive. That's presumably because the fastboot code tries to access the flash and gets stuck at this point. Like the OP I...

Post [Q] Unbricking the unbrickable Nexus S (i9023)

I had the same problem as the OP. Can enter download mode just fine (thanks to Unbrickable Mod), but fails to print PIT or flash anything. I think the flash is fried, that would explain the problem. The phone however can still be used as a S5PC110 development platform so it's not completely useless.

    Post [XMM6260][X-GOLD 626] Modem Specification / Documentation / Hack-Pack

Hi Joel, For the XMM6180 radio image (Nexus S), remove the 0x5000 (first bootloader, not really necessary) and load image @ 0x60000000. Could apply to newer basebands as well. Usually looking at the code in the first bootloader can give a good idea of the loading addresses.

    Post [ROM][4.1.2]CyanogenMod 10 for GT-I8190 [2013-07-29]

ST-Ericsson as a company is bankrupt, sadly, and its CEO resigned a couple weeks ago. So it's unlikely we are going to see the sources, ever. (Samsung has the source as well. But will they release it? I don't think so)
