Post OTA and Non-OTA Firmware for N986U and N986U1

Oops, that's how I meant it, edited to make it a bit clearer :)

Post OTA and Non-OTA Firmware for N986U and N986U1

You'll want to use the N986 firmware, the latest for all carriers (except Verizon) is N986USQU1CTL2

Post OTA and Non-OTA Firmware for N986U and N986U1

Seems like the Spectrum updates seem to come pretty quick after Verizon gets them so hopefully it'll be out in the wild and on Frija soon.

Post OTA and Non-OTA Firmware for N986U and N986U1

Good to see you over here kangi26! Good to see Venom0642 around too! I went with the S10e last year and regretted it, my N20U should be here Wednesday finally and this thread is always helpful to have!

Post Verizon note 20 ultra root??

That's the Unlocked version, not a carrier version. Don't expect root for the carrier versions for a long time, if ever. I think those days are mostly behind us now.

    Post BlueStacks Tweaker 6. Tool for modifing BlueStacks 2 & 3 & 3N & 4 & 5

Thank you! That was an INCREDIBLY annoying change. Hate the giant icons too but I can deal with that easier.

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

Fragmentation is more about Android version rather than security updates, but it is strange that Sprint and AT&T got the April update but Verizon and T-Mobile didn't.

Post Rpmb fuse blown - rpmb provisioned

It sounds like you may have been on the U1 beta. In order to flash U firmware again, you have to use the patched version of Odin: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572

Post [HOW TO] Install Android OREO!!!!! (Snapdragon Only)

The beta rolling out in other countries is for the Exynos model so it doesn't mean much for us. DSA6 is the latest build listed on fota but nothing new has leaked yet.

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

The web host for firmware.science had a hard drive failure. They're waiting for the drive to be replaced and then the files have to be re-uploaded. I've used MST successfully a couple of times on DRL6.

Post [HOW TO] Install Android OREO!!!!! (Snapdragon Only)

I bet it won't be, the first few always seem to be updates from the same base. It sucks but that's part of the charm of using unreleased updates lol

Post supposed Knox reset to 0x0, any input on this?

I haven't paid close attention to the root scene for a while but I don't trust it. The Knox counter is an e-fuse and can't be reset by software. Theoretically, it could possibly be masked instead, but if someone had managed to do that I'm pretty sure you would've heard about it in an article here.

Are you using any kind of app or launcher shortcut to turn off the screen? If one of those sends a command to turn the screen off, your PIN will be required next time you turn the screen on.

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

And that's replacing the entire display assembly! To just replace the glass, you would need to separate the glass from the rest of the screen and that rarely goes well since they're usually glued together. If you want to buy the digitizer and screen as one piece, you're looking at $300+ so you...

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

Going back and looking some of the other builds used S instead of U as well and the latest build on the fota server now shows as U4CRE5 so basically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  22. datajosh

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

I also noticed the Verizon OTA is S4CRE1 instead of U4CRE1, no idea what (if anything) that means though Edit: I guess the build from the AT&T server was too
  23. datajosh

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

Since these are leaks, they probably never intended for anyone to use 4CRD2, which is why there's no upgrade path from it. This definitely isn't the first time there's been a leaked build that you can't upgrade from directly.

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

If anyone just needs the MDM Extension, the developer has it available here: https://kunkunsoft.wordpress.com/news_2/ They provided the link in response to a recent review of BK Package Disabler, which you still be able to download if you had purchased it before.

Post [HOW TO] Install Android OREO!!!!! (Snapdragon Only)

I doubt it. I haven't heard of anyone finding many differences and there's no way to go back once you do. (And likely no way to jump to another v4 bootloader build until ODIN files are available either.)
  26. datajosh

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

It looks nice but that's a fan created concept, not close to final renders
  27. datajosh

Post [HOW TO] Install Android OREO!!!!! (Snapdragon Only)

That's basically it, the issue is not being able to go back. If it turns out there's a major bug in one of these v4 builds, you're stuck with it for an indeterminate amount of time so it's definitely not recommended.
  28. datajosh

Post AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates

Now that the files are available, you can just ODIN to CRC2

Not sure if it will be or not but they're up to CRD1 (with a new bootloader revision - v4) now: http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/ATT/SM-N950U/version.test.xml

What build are you currently running?
  33. datajosh

Post I'm on Beta, will I get OTA?

No, you will not. The easiest thing to do is to apply the CRBB to CRC2 update since CRC2 is the build going out OTA: https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQU3CRBB-to-U3CRC2-UP

Post [HOW TO] Install Android OREO!!!!! (Snapdragon Only)

You'll end up with the unrooted carrier version if you use this method. Also, I believe BQK1 is on bootloader v2 and CRC2 is on v3 so you wouldn't be able to go back to BQK1 either.

Is anyone using a wireless charger with the Oreo builds? I've been experiencing an odd bug and the only common point I can find is using my Samsung convertible fast wireless charger. After using it to charge, my phone stays at 100% CPU usage and never drops below 1.9GHz until I restart it. It...

Post Dev discussion: Bixby Button Remap after Update

I have a feeling this won't end up being possible without root access. Since they're intercepting it before it gets to the accessibility service, I bet you won't be able to intercept the intent from a user level app either. I'd love to be wrong, but even then Samsung could probably patch it again.

Post Verizon No Samsung Caller ID by Hiya

They partnered with Hiya for the S7/S7E also but I don't think any of the US variants got it. I know it definitely wasn't there on my T-Mobile S7 Edge and I don't see it on my S8+ either.

Post USB 3.1 C to C cables for S8/S8+ longer than 3ft?? (UK)

If you're looking for a cable to use with the OEM charger, the unboxing videos I've seen show the included charger with a USB A connection, so you would need a C-to-A cable. (You might already be aware, just making sure.)

Post S8 & S8 Plus CHOETECH HDMI/USB-C compatible MHL type CABLE?
