    Post Sailfish OS on X

Been using Sailfish since the original Jolla release and must say it is my preferred mobile OS at present. The "futuristic" interface mentioned above is easy and intuitive and frustrating when you go back to Andfroid. As to software there is the official Jolla store, the community repository...

How do you mean "use this phone again"? What is not working besides some terribly invasive tracking software? If it helps with your issue you can unlock the SIM and even hte bootloader now, search for the thread on unlocking bootloader on Xperia X

Post What will be your next smartphone?

Nokia's (the Finnish company) non compete clause expires next month, so in 8 days I believe, I'm waiting to see what they bring to market - I bet it'll be good - they've had years to prepare.

Post Smidge on camera lens. How to fix this?

The lens is plastic and can't be fixed, you can also remove this plastic lens with a needle apparently and continue using the camera, though this will also compromise the waterproofing. This has been discussed in another thread if you want more details.

Post [Q] Any chance to increase Z3 Flashlight intensity?

Just did this due to my z3c being much dimmer than my friends z1c flash. These were the default settings: Z3c 2,500 Z1c 62,500 So it would seem the z3c might have had a mistyped figure in the first place from the factory. Both are very bright now with the above suggested setting

Thread Anyway to extract data from PC Companion backup file?

I ran a full backup of my Z3C on 5.1 with PC Companion, this file is on my computer. Next I "downgraded" to Android 4.4.4 as I was having some intermittent battery issues and I missed the functionality of have Xposed and root. Now when I try to restore the backed up file PC Companion tells me...

Post Bottleneck camera glass? Plastic used as camera protection instead of Gorilla Glass ?

I have the z1c and z3c here, not much difference in quality though the 808 still fix the best photos by a LONG way - all the comparisons turn off pureview and then the photos are closer, but that's like making a Olympic runner run with his legs tied together because he would be too good...

    Post Which SDCard?

It sounds like have bad sectors on your card. Put it into a computer and in Windows right click the card in " My Computer" then find tools, and then run error checking, Rick both boxes "automatically fix file system errors" AND "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" Then run a full...

Post Bottleneck camera glass? Plastic used as camera protection instead of Gorilla Glass ?

No the Z3c software isn't optimised at all, or very badly. This is common with many other brands using Sony cameras and getting better results, I just found it ridiculous the cheap India phone did better. No worries I take my Nokia 808 when I want good photos now.

  29. SymbianRefugee

Post Bottleneck camera glass? Plastic used as camera protection instead of Gorilla Glass ?

Putting some plastic over the outer lens is going to degrade quality, no if's or buts about it - the only questions are are you savvy enough to notice or do you care? Having had a Nokia N8 and 808 previously the Sony camera is already a large step backwards, I couldn't handle a more degraded...

Post Bottleneck camera glass? Plastic used as camera protection instead of Gorilla Glass ?

Sorry, yes, your classification is perfect. Unfortunately it still leaves us with a cheap ass plastic outer "lens" or lens covering, that is easily scratched thus rendering the camera useless as a quality photographic device. I recently saw the same scratched cheap lens cover problem on a $40...

Post Bottleneck camera glass? Plastic used as camera protection instead of Gorilla Glass ?

Can I ask what experience you have to demonstrate that it is in fact glass with a plastic coating, since you are so adamant about being correct in this when so many others are having different experiences? It is most definitely a plastic lens in my experience, thanks to the huge bungling at the...

Post Z3C vs Z2 Which one to buy?

Z3C on 4.4.4 can be rooted easily and Xposed framework all works well. 5.1 can be rooted with a bit of messing about and Xposed is working (mostly?) with a bit of messing about, depending upon the time you have available and your Android skills. There is ongoing work on both of these and I...

    Post Alternatives to the V²

For $25 more than the Saygus I got a Z1C and a Z3C from Amazon, so returns wouldn't be a problem - nor was delivery on time a problem. After having them for a month I'd say the Z1C is a better quality build of phone, esp noticeable I the SIM/SD card flaps. And at $250 delivered for a pink one...

    Post Screen replaced--looks matte finish

A screenshot will not show screen differences, it'll just show the screen on the device I use to view it I.e. My phone or my laptop for me, your phone or whatever for you. Post Screen replaced--looks matte finish

As amoled is a better quality display you do not have either an amoled display or a display that looks like amoled. Current amoled is much better quality, Check Wikipedia for a list of high end flagship that use it. The Nokia N808 used a 3 year old super amoled that is better than anything on...
