Thanks. I think you are right. I got a second M8 from Amazon and GPS hasn't working. When I opened it I found that disconnected at the MB end. Connecting it and powering the phone up resulted in a GPS that locks.

Have Windows Explorer opened at the folder where the Stockrecovery.img is contained, then drag the file Stockrecovery.img with your mouse into the command line window.

For next time, I don't think you need to lock the bootloader to receive the OTA.

Try Stockrecovery.img as opposed to stockrecovery.img.

Thanks, I'll keep the other option in mind. As I said above, I froze the Updater with TB and that at least stopped getting the notification.

Answering my own question in case anybody runs into this issue... I long pressed on the update notification and got the exact name from the app info, then used Titanium Backup Pro to freeze that app... problem solved. :D

I successfully updated the Modified Firmware with removed boot, hboot & recovery. Rooted, S-off, did it via hboot. Everything seems fine, except the phone is still prompting me to take the OTA update... how do I get rid of that?

You have to have stock recovery to take the update, which means you have to flash stock recovery first and then take the update, then repeat the rooting process.

I thought one could do a ##SCRTN# reset without needing the MSL? Or are we talking about different things? This is what I'm talking about: 1) Go to dialer and enter: 2) ##SCRTN# (##72786#) 3) Press MENU in top right corner 4) Select "Reset" That doesn't need MSL, does it? :confused:

Yeah, they didn't. I actually emailed Rearth and asked them, and the response I got was "Unfortunately we most likely will not be making any Crystal view cases in the future."

I forgot to mention another nice thing about the UAG. The bumpers on the corners have little legs that allow the phone to sit on them and not on the clear plastic when the phone is placed face up on a flat surface. That prevents scratches from accumulating on the clear plastic. No question about...

I have the UAG Maverick, the Poetic Atmosphere, and an i-Blason frosted TPU case. The UAG is, unfortunately still the best IMO. Best in protection, I like the fact that it provides an elevated protection on the back which prevents the lens glasses from getting fingerprint smears when grabbing...

Are you sure the Hybrid is thinner than the Ultra Fit? It'd seem otherwise from their website pics plus it'd make more sense if the Hybrid was a little thicker.

If I were to go that way I think I'd opt for the Spigen Premium Clear TPU Case or maybe even better, the soft clear Ultra Hybrid (once available).

One last note on this case. Although it has an opening for the IR blaster and it doesn't block it per se, it does hinder it. Without a case, or with my i-Blason clear SoftGel Flexible TPU Cover, I can literally point the phone in any direction and both the TV and the home theater receiver will...

Attractive, and slim. But I don't see anywhere that it has mil drop test standards...

I have the UAG Maverick, but looking for an alternative. Any others that meet those 2 requirements? When I say shock protection I mean military drop test standards. And when I say clear I don't mean translucent :)

Got the Maverick today. For the price you'd think it'd be a better fit... rear cameras, USB openings are not accurate. Openings in power button and volume controls make for gaps that can invite foreign particles. Disappointing IMO.
