I'd like to revisit this question. I used Titanium Backup to get a copy of the apk from my tablet. Any suggestions on how to get the Note II to take the apk? Is there a setting on the phone that I can change or do I need to modify the apk? Thanks

You won't need to go to the HTCdev website to get the unlock code, but the step is not skipped... it is just automated into this easy-to-use tool. (if I understand everything correctly)

No, but I usually do use Flash Image GUI. I didn't this time because the rom I was on was randomly rebooting and I didn't want it to reboot in the middle of my kernel flash. Instead I used the method in [GUIDE] HTC Unlock Hboot 1.50 + TWRP Recovery + Root + Flash!! [9.11.11]. This still left...

I flashed it and had reboots about every 5 minutes. I reflashed the boot.img through fastboot usb and that seems to have solved the reboot problem.
