Got the update on a global version Mi 8 that I haven't unlocked or messed with in any way. Everything's great, but as quoted, my GPS went from being impressively accurate to jumping all over the place. Sucks specially when driving in the city, it'll show up as me being on another lane/street...

Pretty much my daily driver, whatever couple or nuisances (can't really call them bugs) I've found a way around. Now, my question is: are the OTAs safe to install on this ROM? Or should I wait until Lyuu give us the green light in the original post?

No need to. As Lyuu kindly explained, due to the changes that Magisk and that module do to the system, you'll get this warning, but other than this window showing up after every boot, nothing else is affected. Worry not brother!
