i got antsy and took the phone apart early. Took the gasket out and mic works perfectly now. On a side note--the first time I tried it, I tightened the screws too tight and the mic stopped working again. The mic assembly must be pretty sensitive to the pressure of the casing.

You can use flashtool and flash straight to ics. Plus, the new flashtool has binary's root method built in.

Press and hold vol up + power. Wait until the phone vibrates three times, then it will turn off. You can then enter flashmode and reflash
