These are some useful overlay files, so that you dont need to mod the original files. push them to /system/vendor/overlay/ and chmod 644. These should work with every stock / stock based firmware, even locked bootloader. 1. framework-res.apk overlay for changing dimension of soft keys (28 dp)...

No need of exposed framework.. just push the following apk to /system/vendor/overlay/ folder I have used 28 dp, but decompile that and change to whatever you want :)

It is not only in CM, but in AOSP too.. UMS has a possibility of data corruption, and UMS needs to unmount the card before it can be connected.. To circumvent these problems, Android itself is trying to move away from UMS.. The alternative is MTP (even Ubuntu now supports it now)
