Hi, Without S-OFF the phone still hangs at the HTC start screen even with the Vipers. I will re-format it again and start over just to be sure. Thanks.

That worked thank you very much, but I just tried the S-OFF method and got this message: ERROR: looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!! Should I flash a new ROM first? Do you suggest a good stable one? Cheers.

OK - Phone unlocked again and 4ext downloaded............ How do I flash an img file? Keep asking for zip. I assume I am now flashing from the PC as recovery on the phone is now just a reset function. Thanks.

Already had the BMP but the HTC driver is 4.2 compared to my 4.16 so installed. Windows 7 on the PC and Phone is formatted so no OS, cannot get to USB debugging mode. Even with the new 4.2 driver the PC does not see the phone. Thanks.

SDK Tools are installed yes. HTC Sync is not but Sensation USB drivers are.

Hi, I am not quite sure what you mean, I have said that the PC will not recognise the phone, PC connectivity via USB is not possible. I have installed drivers but to no avail so far. Thank you.

Hi, Thank you - Recovery at the moment is ClockworkMod v5.8.0.9 but that doesn't seem to do much. Following the link in your sig for 4ext and the forum thread I downloaded the recovery.zip and tried to flash through FASTBOOT but the installation aborts each time. Cheers.

I seem to have a Brick :( Downloaded and I think I did as per instructions but as phone boots now all I get is the word ANDROID on the screen and that's it. Now I have no OS so need to install from boot somehow as I cannot get into download mode or anything. Please help.......

I am trying to upgrade my ROM from the Android 2.2 that was on the phone. As it stands now I have finally managed to install CWM recovery that actually kicks in when I choose recovery mode and I have updated the ROM from that with ICS that the thread says is stable. However now my phone sticks...

OK.............. So ROM Manager is not working for me but I finally got the phone talking to adb via usb but have now tried to flash two different images but keep getting FAILED remote image error. I am getting closer..... Just to confirm, with S-ON I have to rename the file to "update.zip"...

Yes I am hboot 1.02 Unlocked S-On. So there is a different clockwork mod for S-on? :-( Oh boy!! Everything I do gets me a signature verification error :-(

I have been trying to flash with ROM Manager but have permanent verification errors. Now I will try via adb as above. THANK YOU - Wish me luck :-) No joy... All I get is the same error E:Can't open.......... etc followed by E:Singanture verification error.... Can I not force an S-Off?

Hi, yes sorry I do get slightly beyond the Red Triangle but my Vol+Power is always followed by "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" Then an attempted Apply SDCard:update.zip is always followed by E:Signature verification failed. Installation aborted. I am sooooooooooooo close :-(

Well I am stuck, got a horrible Legend with 2.2 locked to Vodafone Spain - No bootloader update yet on HTCDEV and nothing works. Can't even update my aps on the SD card coz phone says not enough memory to install. Got 12Gb on the card and only stock Vodafone stuff on the phone itself.

Does not work on my Legend locked to Vodafone ES :-( I hate this phone.
