Post Need help rooting bell Legend

I'm on Virgin. I've successfully downgraded then rooted my phone (1.3 software) using the Goldcard method. The point of failure I had in my unsuccessful attempts was the Goldcard. If all else fails, try reloading the 2.1 RUU from Bell, re-creating your Goldcard and trying the 1.3 downgrade...

Post HTC Legend 2.1 - Bell carier root help

Are you at 1.3? You can't root your stock 2.1 software, you have to downgrade. Also, check your HTC Sync software. I made a similar mistake when I had my first attempt at rooting. I also found the instructions to be confusing myself, at first. I do have a mental checklist, though. Anyone...

Post Can someone explain me what is it S-ON?

You can flash custom Kernels without being S-OFF. Done it myself many, many times. You don't need to be S-OFF to flash kernels. S-ON as you said, gives read/write access to the /system partition while the phone is running. Unless you're looking at theming the phone yourself, or you want to...

Post Can someone explain me what is it S-ON?

Personally, I haven't found any benefits to being S-OFF. I've found that using the Clockwork Recovery doesn't work sometimes and it's handy to have a PC handy just in case...

Post Can someone explain me what is it S-ON?

With great power, comes great responsibility. It's a great tool (I'm S-OFF, myself) but just be careful.

Post Can someone explain me what is it S-ON?

The HTC Legend, when rooted using the usual methods doesn't really have access to the System partition. In order to have access to this, you have to have a "S-OFF" or "Security-Off" Phone.

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

Once it was mid-January and there was no update, I gave up and rooted. At first, I didn't want to, but there's Froyo features I use and want that I was waiting patiently for. The thing I find most upsetting in all this is although Virgin runs over Bell's lines, the Virgin brand has been one...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

Kajiji is your best bet. I think you're looking at getting one second hand. Try eBay as well. As far as I know you can't buy outright at a cheaper price but Virgin Mobile offers a feature called "SuperTab" that allows you to build credit towards buying a new phone or paying off the phone you...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

Hi! *waves* I see your logic as this is a procedure with fewer steps, but you got my reasoning with your last sentance! As I have a rooted phone, I've tried out the CM7 ROMs - Gingerbread! As I mentioned, though, my normal ROM is BlaY0's B0.7 which works perfectly. If I hadn't rooted, I'd...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

I stand corrected. I'd forgotten about that. As I stated, I feel the choice of ROMs available allows me customize my phone to a large degree, from widget placement to now having the ability to install ROMs that allow my phone to either do things that it's not supposed to do with a stock ROM or...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

nolook is correct, you don't have to downgrade/root - you could just update with the Virgin Mobile WWE ROM... Now, have Virgin actually relased that rom? ;) :D I did send you my email address so if you get any issues when you're trying to do this, you can give me an email.

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

My first link is to the "Downgrade", the second is for the actual rooting (The link to MoDaCo - I found it to be clearest). The rooting procedure, once done will then allow you to load the ROM you'd like. There are threads here for stock FroYo ROMs, but as we're locked to Virgin Mobile, you...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

There is a guide HERE that is really good. The things to be careful of are : Make sure your Legend is in USB Debug mode. You will know because you will not only see the usb symbol that indicates the Legend is charging, you will also see a "bug" that indicates USB Debug is active. The other...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

There was noise about an update in Mid-Jan from Virgin, Bell as far as I remember has discontinued support and it's unlikely that there's going to be an update. You won't get the OTA update unless Bell releases it. I'm rather dissapointed with the promises that keep being broken for our rather...

    Post Bell/Virgin Froyo Update

I got annoyed with the flip-flopping and waited until after the halfway mark in the month. I've rooted my phone and it works perfectly. I found that Blayo's ROM to run extremely well on the Legend.
