I am definitely not ivicask, but I am pretty sure it still is. It's working for me and it's still the latest release also on the dedicated thread. Second clue is that all downloads in the Hub are approved for the rom version you're running.

Media access means it can read/write files to your sd card if I am correct, this makes sense as you can download files to flash in recovery. Sometimes people are a bit too focused on these permissions, if you trust the app developper just trust them. And if you use someones ROM than it doesn't...
