    Post [Q] Android 4.4 KitKat

I sure hope so. I haven't been on this device for a while now so I'm not sure how active the devs still are for such a dated phone. It's pretty much indestructible for daily drops which makes it reliable, but nearly impossible to use smoothly on a Jelly Bean ROM. I just want a smooth and updated...

    Thread [Q] Android 4.4 KitKat

With the new focus on entry-level devices in the new version of android, do you think that porting to the older Captivate would be a possibility? The 512 MB of RAM is the minimum for the new OS version, so it may even run more smoothly than any of its Jelly Bean predecessors. I have no personal...

    Post [Q&A] Paranoid Android 3.0+ SGH-I747/SGH-I747M

Dpi doesn't go higher than 315 and I believe that is the reason why I can't install Candy Crush onto my phone. Do you guys know of any fix for this? I did a clean wipe and am on 3.69. Edit: Set the hybrid properties to "Recom. Settings" and then changed the Play Store to have 320 dpi and 360p...

    Post NovaGen-d2att BETA [RootBox+CM+PA+AOKP][4.2.2][LINARO][3.4.55] build:20130821

What I did was change the app to stock DPI through the toggle in my quick settings from the notification bar. The stock phone DPI adjustment is what fixed the issue for me.

    Post NovaGen-d2att BETA [RootBox+CM+PA+AOKP][4.2.2][LINARO][3.4.55] build:20130821

I've actually seen this first-hand with previous roms, and it isn't the battery bar. It's kind of like an annoying gap between the app window and the status bar. I only saw it with twitter, personally.

    Post NovaGen-d2att BETA [RootBox+CM+PA+AOKP][4.2.2][LINARO][3.4.55] build:20130821

When I try to change the DPI to 320 in the Hybrid Settings, it has a max of 315 and won't go any further. I've tried switching to different types of UIs and back to stock phone, but the issue stays there.

    Post NovaGen-d2att BETA [RootBox+CM+PA+AOKP][4.2.2][LINARO][3.4.55] build:20130821

I've had the rom going for about two or three days now, and I've noticed that it's difficult to get my clock and data type (i.e. LTE or H+) to a custom color, and Candy Crush is incompatible which makes me a very sad camper. No random reboots or anything like that thankfully, but the...

    Post [Q&A] Paranoid Android 3.0+ SGH-I747/SGH-I747M

Different base as in a different nightly build. I'm running the 06/30 build, so maybe there's something way deeper than my understanding. Although you're probably right about it just being a simple oversight (in fact, with my history with these issues, it's probably an extremely simple...

Post Galaxy S3 Charging Really Slow

Although the issue with it not recognizing any other charger is something I've never even heard of, I would suggest flashing a different kernel to see if that's the issue. If that doesn't work, clean flash that rom, then flash a different rom if that isn't the case. I know trial and error is...

    Post [Q&A] Paranoid Android 3.0+ SGH-I747/SGH-I747M

I did a clean flash and flashed the pa gapps that are listed on the main rom page. It's odd because like you said, I may be alone on this one. Could it be that I'm in the recommended setup instead of regular phone setup in the hybrid settings?

    Post [Q&A] Paranoid Android 3.0+ SGH-I747/SGH-I747M

This May Sound Menial But... I'm getting extremely frustrated because I can't get Candy Crush on my phone running PA 3.60 (June 30th nightly build) because it says that my device isn't compatible with the app. I've tried various build.prop tweaks and Market Helper to spoof the Play Store into...

    Post [Q] Are You Tempted?

I'm pretty tempted to get it, but I'm also worried about the lack of dev support for the phone. With it being on multiple carriers, I don't see that being too huge of an issue, but my experience with a limited development phone (One X+) has shown me how much I truly need AOSP every now and then...

Post The Worst Android Device That You've Ever Had & Why

The worst one that I've used is the Samsung Infuse, and it is the worst by far. The cheap feeling of the phone added to the terrible battery life and laggy processor (granted, it was on GB) were all just too much to handle at times. I've had a Captivate, Inspire, Infuse, Atrix, and now have a...

    Post Help with some concepts!!!

I'm still a noob myself, but this is what I think would explain this simply. The firmware is the ROM that you place onto your phone. This encompasses the user interface and overall function as seen by you, the user. The kernel is what tells the device what to do by allowing the hardware and...

    Post Need to replace speaker?

Yeah that would be the best option. The flex cable that you have to connect to the SIM card/ external SD board sometimes comes loose, and to replace it requires a bit of trial and error as far as re-positioning the cable. There's a black switch to release the ribbon from the connector on the...

Post [SOLVED] Restore IMEI with absolute NO backup?

Post Will this work with Kies

Its not AT&T stock, but its one of the leaked firmwares. Basically the same thing, but the baseband version is different. If you want to get the AT&T stock GB rom, downgrade to Froyo (KB2) through Heimdall. Note that you don't need to change bootloaders since GB bootloaders are backwards...

Update now man. You have a choice of the CM9 stable release, plus like four really good Jelly Bean roms that are totally worth the flash. I was running the devil kernel on a few roms whether it be JB or ICS and it seemed that I would have this weird bug where every time I'd unlock my phone, I'd get color distortion on the lock screen. Post Encryption Unsuccessful Bug on Jellybean ROMs?

On the Paranoid Android forum I've seen a reply suggesting that the /data partition is unavailable, but I'm not sure if that occurred during an ICS rom or during the switch to jb. So far that's been the only mention of it that I've seen on a jelly bean thread, so it must not be a prevalent issue...

Yeah the little box turns yellow in ODIN but it just hangs there at setup connection. I also, sadly, don't have recovery mode because my kernel flash is when it all went terribly wrong. I can connect to ODIN and Heimdall with no problem because I have the respective drivers, the problem just...

Okay well to put it simply, just flash a GB kernel like speedmod through ODIN, download the stock KK4 at&t rom (I think there's a full dump of it in the previous post), and flash it through CWM once both of those steps are done. If you want your kernel to be back to stock, then find the stock...

Post Keep phone on long enough to transfer files?

Like the previous post says, maybe try a custom recovery, go to mounts and storage, and mount USB storage. While you're at it, try flashing a compatible ROM through that recovery i.e. GB rom if its a GB kernel with CWM recovery or ICS rom if its an ICS recovery.

    Post 4.1 JB for Captivate?

That's ridiculous. I noticed an amazing jump in smoothness from the latest CM9 nightly to the V2 of the Jelly Bean ROM and if it's only gonna get better, I can't wait to see how fast it gets. Still very, very minor bugs that barely affect functionality at all, but man is it fast!

Post Boot loop on Rogers Captivate

Alright, well from what I can tell, your kernel isn't compatible with the rom. An ICS rom like Slim ICS requires a kernel that is also ICS-based, but KK4-based kernels are gingerbread. Unscrew the back and make sure that the antenna cable (white wire along the right side of the battery) isn't loose or broken. If that's not it, try flashing a modem through ODIN, and maybe even consider an upgrade since the eclair software is a bit dated. That last part is just a suggestion btw.

I've done this many a time... Just download the entire samsung drivers .exe file (still a noob so can't post links) that's around 18.5 MB in size and odin will be able to read it. Flash any ODIN-friendly kernel and rom and you should be back up and running.
