Post OTA update endless fail loop PPWS29.69-39-6-4 on Magisk (un)rooted X4

I go t the update today successfully but I am not unlocked or rooted as of yet. This is what I thought. I just got the February security update today. I would not expect much past August. I will say that I honestly have no reason to root at this point. No bloatware and many of the...

Post OTA update endless fail loop PPWS29.69-39-6-4 on Magisk (un)rooted X4

Just to chime in... I was under the impression that official EOS for the A1 version of the X4 ends towards the middle or end of summer. A1 devices are supposed to get 2 years of upgrades and 3 years security updates.

For the price and the specs at the time, the phone was unbeatable even with its less than stellar battery. I still have it as a backup and a phone to play with.

Post Realistic options for a replacement to the Moto X Pure

Agreed. Even though I have a "replacement" phone, I still find myself using the MXPE quite a bit. For the features it is still hands down one of the best phones I have ever owned value wise.

Post Can this phone be vendor-locked?

Moto X4 and Moto X4 A1 are unlocked phones and Motorola will provide the bootloader unlock code (this does void your warranty). The only exception to this unlock is the Amazon subsidized version to the best of my knowledge.

    Post XT1900-1 september security patch

I got the update today as well, which came as a surprise. I was wondering the same thing regarding some urgent fix. Maybe they are trying to appease the masses over not getting Android 10 by providing faster security updates. I feel like they wiggled out of providing the upgrade. Technically...

Post Moto X4 Variant. How to recognize (question)

Agreed...the model number should be right next to the charge port. Also an FYI is that the Amazon editions typically show advertisements on the lockscreen. If the bootloader is unlockable then I am pretty sure you can root. Check the Moto unlock site and see if you can get the unlock code...

Just for clarification for those having issues... What variant (1900-1, -7, etc.) are you using? Is it the regular edition or the Android one? And most importantly, which update was received when the problems started?

If you did not submit and get the bootloader unlock from Moto then there is nothing you can do to keep the current settings except keep getting the update notifications. If you had so many problems with the bootloader unlock and want to avoid it, then the only way to stop the notifications is...

Post is it a good choice to buy moto x4 now?

I can agree with the speaker being okay at best. The battery is actually really good all things considered (AMOLED would have been great) and you would be hard pressed to find something that is significantly better if you are a heavy phone gamer (assuming this based off your post). As far as the...

Thread Moto X4 Android one security updates

As of today my Moto X4 A1 shows the latest security update as April 1, 2019 and the update check says it is up to date. Can anyone confirm this is accurate? UPDATE: I have received the security update for May 1, 2019.

Post Moto X4 will get Android Q ??

TBH, now that I have the Moto X4 and seen Android Pie in action, I don't think an SD Card slot matters as much anymore. With Google Photos backing up everything (in a lower resolution) and backing up full quality photos to a PC, the need is much less. I only have it to download videos offline...

Wow. Since I first got the phone 3 years ago, i personally just have had very little time to delve much into doing custom ROMs and kernels for this device due to work scheduling I'm moving to a new job this month and should have more time on my hands. I'm probably going to get back into things.

The CPU for the most part does pretty well scaling up and down based off processing needs. You probably just don't have CPU intensive apps so didn't notice much. Moto X4 Android one version is currently $150 32GB model and $199 64GB model. 32GB with expandable storage is more than adequate for my needs. Anyone think this is a good deal? I don't think rooting solutions will get you much of a difference. It would be better to focus on what is known. Did you get better SOT times before and if so when did things change? Could the battery replacement be the culprit? Pinpointing what may be your issue(s) is difficult. The way the...
