Post What's the difference between the ROM and the kernel

Android is similar to mainstream linux operating systems in that the ROM is like the OS portion of a linux distro. the Kernel is the portion that interfaces between the OS and the hardware. Pretty much all Roms (there may be exceptions but I cant think of any) come prepackaged with a kernel as...

Post USB cable to audio jack

It has to be an adapter with a built in DAC. (the more expensive kind) there are other phones that basically use just a converter cable and output analog audio through the USB C port, since those are just changing USB C to a headphone jack they are pretty common and cheap. The essential phone...

Post External optical drive - Android Yoga Book

Android Verizon works (With Drawbacks) Windows Verizon should work with a powered hub Yes, for the android version most portable DVD drives that have AV mode will work. however, there are some serious drawbacks. 1. you need a powered OTG hub as every drive I've tried, even the low powered...

I agree as well, I also use the dragonfly black and its fantastic. The essential phone after the MQA update actually passes MQA to the dragonfly for rendering as well which is pretty nice if you use Tidal as otherwise a computer is really the only other good option for MQA with the Dragonfly.

    Post Any USB-C Headphone suggestions?

This might shed some light on things. There are two types of USB c dongles (and in turn headphones since the USB c side is essentially a built in adaptor) The first type is basically just an analog pass through and functions like a standard headphones Jack just using a USB c end instead of the...

    Post Limited network throughput

Just wanted to confirm I had a similar issue but didn't realize it until you said something. though for mine it was like that out of the box and ironically the update to 8.1 April build fixed it. I was getting 25M at work (in Houston so lots of signal) after the update I'm getting 75M (On...

binfmt_misc I'd like to start by saying thank you for this ROM. I tried quite a few before this one but once I flashed this I've stuck with it, its stable but with tons of features and the best support I've seen in a long time for a ROM. I'd like to make a request, I realize this may not be...

Thread Flashing rooms on non pure edition models

This might be a dumb question but the rom threads I've read don't specifically note compatibility in most cases. Is everyone flashing roms assumed to be in a pure edition model? Or are the roms cross compatible with all Moto x 2014 models as long as you are bootloader unlocked with custom...

    Post update to 5.1.1

I think that depends what model you have. I'm on the Verizon P905V model so for me there is no root for 5.1.1 and the bootloader is locked so I dont have custom recovery. if you have a model that allows custom recovery as indicated in your first post you would be better off flashing a custom rom...

    Post update to 5.1.1

I've never run into that with stock recovery but I had that issue with clockworkmod a long time ago. You might verify you have the correct update zip for your tablet. Usually that error comes from the tag in the updater script being for another model. It could also be that the zip you have isn't...

Post Exynos or Snapdragon? Which one is better performer.

Yeah I wanted to make sure you knew the only option was kingroot, I haven't used it myself but I've heard similar stories from others. most devices have ways to get rid of the kingroot app and use an alternate app (Like super SU etc.) but so far this model (P905V) is stuck with kingroot. you can...

there are 3 versions of the 5.1.1 update for the Verizon model, the first one has been reported as rootable using kingroot by others. note that I myself am on P905VVRUBOH1 and do not have root. if you can get a hold of the P905VVRUANK5 update and flash it manually through Samsung smart switch on...

Post Exynos or Snapdragon? Which one is better performer.

both are great processors. this is simplifying a bit but it basically breaks down to the snapdragon being better at graphics with the adreno 320 GPU and the exynos being slightly better at multiprocessor performance. that being said you will more likely be limited to what is available. the wifi...

they are both easy to root (on android 4.4, android 5.1 is only recently rootable but its hit or miss) but both have locked bootloaders so that's as far as you can go at this point. they are pretty hard to find now but if you want LTE and an unlockable bootloader you want the P905 model...

I've seen pretty much the same myself. Really the only option for a true upgrade is to drop to a 10 inch tablet. The Pixcel C is better...
