Post Now nokia is pulling out some big guns.

I have no doubt Android will be successful. That does not mean wp would not be successful. Windows is successful, so are OSX and Linux, each in their own spaces. iPhone is successful despite a sub-30 market share.

So apparently you are not as big a supporter for video evidence as you claim after all. :) And if as you claimed, the performance difference is due to "Motorola has completely revamped their skin", then you would agree that it's the software rather than hardware that matters, no? If you don't...

Post Now nokia is pulling out some big guns.

How do you that Apple and Google didn't have to pay game developers? I don't think things are good for the platform either, nor should it be 1 year into the a very competitive market. However, that doesn't mean things won't be good for the platform in the future. Android was hardly successful...

Can't you do that with Airplane mode? My phone never makes a beep (other than alarm clocks) since I don't have data connection and wifi is disconnected as soon as the phone goes into sleep.

Post Now nokia is pulling out some big guns.

A smarter deal is to get what's best for stockholders rather than a very small number of customers. Companies don't do thing unless there's a dollar sign associated with it. They may be short sighted, but I am fairly sure they are laughing with money in the bank rather than risking footing the...

Just so you know, Atrix 2 performances very similarly to Atrix. Atrix 2 actually has slightly lower Quadrant scores. so I can't help but wonder, do you really know what you are talking about?

Actually, I think Microsoft cares very much. They know PC is dying and smartphone will need to be a major revenue driver. They are actually investing very heavily into Windows Phone development. It's hard to tell whether wp7 is a major fail in terms of sales. I suspect it's doing better than...

Post "2nd" Generation WP7 Devices dissapointing = Fail

I never said it's out of order, I simply said you could have it if you wanted it so much. If bigger storage is not worth importing it (probably cheaper anyway) or figuring out whether it works with your carrier, then don't do it. Just don't mislead people that we don't have a choice. It's simply...

Post Ringer Volume, Vibrate, Silent...annoying by design?

So you will need to click three times to go from ring to silent? Not to mention you will have to remember which comes after which. How is that any easier than click setting->ringtone->vibrate? If you have to have 4 options, then either have two buttons (ring/silent, vibrate on/off) or have a...

First of all, that's not true. It's also available in Canada via Rogers if I am not mistaken. Regardless, I am fairly sure Focus will work in many countries and on various GSM carriers. It's just a matter of buying it and unlocking it. The real question is whether you like wp7 or not. If...

Other than customization and certain functionality, I have no complaint about the WP7's performance and I don't see much complaint from others either. iphone's second generation device (3G) was not more powerful than their first generation device. Iphone 4 was also not significantly faster...

Post The real reason WP7 isn't popular

I actually think it's very important that MS kept the Windows name. Next year, we will have Windows 8 on PC, Windows 8 Metro on ARM and WP8 on phones. It creates a uniformed platform for developers and consumers.

Post Worth it for a Lumia 800?

Unless it's below $100 contract free, then no. I will wait for WP8 and even then wouldn't get a new phone if my Quantum can be upgraded to wp8. wp7 is very smooth on 1G processor, I see little reason to move to better hardware. Maybe switch to focus if it's a equal trade.

Post Ringer Volume, Vibrate, Silent...annoying by design?

I am not saying it's worse, I am saying it's a different compromise and not necessarily a better compromise. Personally, I prefer ring and vibrate, which is not even supported in your solution unless you have a 4 choices option. My preferred solution is to open up the APIs to developers and...

Post After about a month of official Mango, was it really worth it?

Comparing to wp7.0, Mango is a definitely a huge improvement for me. Comparing to other competitors, it's different enough to be a viable option. It's suppose to be boring and does what it does. I think iOS is equally boring, probably more so with less integration, but it does have more apps...

Post Did Nokia really save WP7?

It would not be a good business move if it does not sell. So far, there's nothing about the phone that stands out other than the body, which was available with N9. I do appreciate that they actually went through the trouble of removing the front facing camera from the N9 chassis. A lazier...

Post Ringer Volume, Vibrate, Silent...annoying by design?

That's two clicks to go from ring to silent, not one. Right now, for people who don't need vibrate, it can be done in one click. You also can't go from vibrate to ring in one click. Right now, for people who don't need silent, it can also be done in one click. So basically you are punishing...

Post Ringer Volume, Vibrate, Silent...annoying by design?

As she already discovered, you can set it in settings. I don't see why it's tedious. If you do have more choices, it wouldn't be an one click switch. As far as I can tell, my Android phone does exactly the same thing.

Good for you. Android, I presume? Usually when people say they want things done in the way they want, wp7 may not be a right fit. Post Nokia Specs Out! 3 Devices

Wow, people really have a lot of musics. Each mp3 file is 4M big, 32G would be 8000 songs. I still have 12.79G left on my Quantum. :p. If they had 8G Quantum for $40, I probably would have gone for that one. :D

And Google didn't have a huge Google reputation? Yet Android still struggled for about two years. Android was first released in 2007 and by Q2 2009, it had 2.8% of the world wide market share. Comscore put Android at 9% of US market share in early 2010. It was really Droid that really sparked...

I doubt Android's dominance will wane as long as Microsoft and Apple stick with their rigid design, unless of course it's brought down by a lawsuit. There are just so many choices. Having said that, wp7 and iOS are rigid and "limited" for very good reasons. It provides a uniformed experience...

I wonder this kind of back and forth happen on the Android and iphone forums as well. IMHO, Android, iOS and WP7 have completely different design philosophies and it shows in the final product. That's funny. How come the phone I bought doesn't even have a monthly plan associated with it (let along a contract). I am paying 30cents per minute with it right now. It's locked to Bell though, but I unlocked mine for $2.99. So I apologize for the misleading information, the total price is...

Post [Q] Questions about switching from iOS to WP7

Another big factor is the price. An iPhone 3gs is selling for $375 whereas you can get a LG Quantum for $80 with specs closer to iphone4. I think it's a no brainier between the two. I just moved from a LG Optimus One running Android 2.2 to a LG Quantum running wp7.5 Mango. Initially I was blown away by the smoothness of WP7 (granted, the Quantum does have better specs). However, after about a week, I start to miss my Optimus One terribly. There's no background wallpaper...
