Yes, you are right. The record icon never appeared in google dialer... ...but after dialing in google dialer and pressing call, the oneplus5 stock dialer started the call and the icon appeared.

Enable Call Recording.apk from mod section, enabled that function in Google Dialer. After installing and granting supersu to it, a "tape" icon appeared on Google Dialer.

You mean to update my recovery with Codeworkx Universal TWRP and then update? Or should I first of all format storage to Undecrypt it, and then clean flash the whole rom using your method?
