I did the exact same thing from the SuperV20 rom I've been using and everything's working well!

Silly question but once I want to move from LOS 13 to LOS 14.1, is there anything special to do besides factory resetting, flashing the 14.1 ROM, then wiping dalvik/cache?

You can remove icons from the main screen with a different launcher, like Nova. Yes! Someone posted a toolkit here for a different phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-2/development/leeco-le-2-x526-aio-toolkit-t3426193 But it works fine for the US Le S3. Note that TWRP will be in Chinese, so you'll have to swap over to English first.
