I didn't freeze Performance Control. Just unchecked all "apply at boot" boxes. About FC of PMZ1, try uninstalling it, then wiping cache and dalvik, and install the app again. Worked for me.

I've got just the same combo (Existenz 4.5 + Abricot v6). Try using modified "Pimp My Z1" from this thread for setting the fast hotplug and TricksterMOD for adjusting everything else. For me this works flawlessly.
