    4547 2324389 Dialing *#06# won't work if the sim card that's inserted is invalid in the first place, so don't give up just yet. I only own the factory unlocked N7000, so I'm not sure about this...but is it possible the one you have might be locked?

    Post Very Strange!! Phone book can't be wiped

    Make sure you skip the part where, after wiping everything and installing a new rom, it asks to setup a Gmail account. That could most definitely be your culprit. If you set it up, your data (contacts and sync apps) will auto-sync/download upon reaching the home screen.
