Wiping on stock kernel without CWM is apparently safe. Wait for sammobile or CheckFus to upload the entire Rom. It's better to flash then lest one might get bricked following incorrect procedure. Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

Post phone bricked after ics wipe cache/partition

I remember posting the same statement earlier that stock kernel were impeccably safe, but it was disregarded. Nonetheless, I reckon that verity of my earlier statement has been finally approved. It's time people stopped blaming Samsung for the bricks. Perhaps, the problem has always been the CWM...

His statement : He wrote an ambiguous statement which might be interpreted otherwise. Nonetheless, as far as I can understand he got bricked after installing cf root and cwm. We should investigate further, and ask him to clearly specify what he did actually. By the way, can cf root for xxlrg...

Post Samsung working on Emmc brick fix

I myself have wiped from stock recovery (non-rooted) on xxlrg after flashing it. I didn't get bricked. You forgot to mention that he wiped after installing cf-root with cwm..Perhaps this adds credence to the fact that CWM seems to falter on ICS when it comes to wiping.

Even I got similar response from a tier 3 representative. Incidentally, I have wiped endless times on different stock firmwares released so far. I didn't get bricked.
