The ROM works fine. I did have a fault with the chip several years ago and sent it back for repair; since then the GPS has worked fine. If you check SGS history, I think you will find that there were many complaints about the GPS.

The status 7 error message happens often. Search this thread; you will also find a link to a cyanogenmod explanation. When the abort message appears, you are in recovery. Go to the Advanced Menu in recovery. In the Advanced Menu you will find 'reboot recovery'. It is the top line. As always...

Yeah. I flashed it a second time and it worked fine. I must say, though, that I panicked when I saw that initial error message! Lol! I understand from other comments that this isn't a bug but is to do with the changed partition.
