On my Galaxy S 1 (GT-i9000) with less than 512MB ram, Marshmallow works ok if you disable multitasking and don't install google services. For further speed boosts I use apps from F-Droid as these tend to be more lightweight, and the old version of Opera Mini for browsing.

According to Mozilla's site, the SoC in this phone is one of the few they are officially supporting in Firefox OS. Perhaps the instructions for one of the low end Firefox handsets will also work for this phone?

I've installed it and it runs on my unrooted KitKat device. Focus works, as well as viewing the front facing camera. When I try to change settings, switch modes (e.g. to video), or take a picture, it force closes though. I hope this feedback helps in fixing some of the issues..

The reason that the soft keys are not working is that Nokia has played around with them in order to provide an Asha style drag up menu instead of the three dot icon for the menu at the bottom.

The font, for anyone wondering, is Nokia Pure. It's the same font as on the Asha Platform and on the Nokia N9.

Great to see it's been successfully rooted. Can you get the LinuxOnAndroid app to work? Some apps such as Gimp and LibreOffice don't really have equivalents for power users in Android. If we can get it to work, it's the best of both worlds

As far as I'm aware, they can't. Since new versions of Android for some reason only supports the MTP protocol, and not USB Mass storage we have a situation where two Google products are incompatible. I hope they find a way to fix this, as it also stops me from using an ICS or JB phone in Linux.
