I believe I got your question wrong why a complete ROM containing the recovery, system, kernel, radio and ... is bigger than just the recovery. You could try the separate parts of the image and flash them on top of the XXAMB6. First you should try the kernel (boot.img) to test if this causes...

I've built the new versions (S7710 and S7710L) but didn't have time to test them thoroughly. So you'll have to wait till next week after my business trip.

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

Long answer short: The difference is that linking is working and moving not ;) Instead of blaming Samsung you really should do that on some google devs. This new feature - okay rephrase - removing the good ol'working stuff is a chutzpah for all users with low internal memory. But hey: Who buys...

You can only link your files to the sdcard (search this thread or ... for Link2SD). The firmware version is either way similar.
  14. T

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

Sure it supports OTG. How could you else access the sdcard in it? I do still believe you meant OTG capabilities on the external visible usb jack, though I'm not certain that you can enable and use OTG there after all.

Sure. Why do you really need to change that in any way? Download the full service rom listed in this thread: searching can be really easy if you know what to look for :D

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

I'm not sure what to say about the last pages... but most of that is about asking instead of reading. To clarify XCover's ext version compatibility: ext3 seems not to work. ext4 is Samsung's preferred choice and ext2 is for "legacy support".

The answer is no. If you expected a more detailed answer you should clarify your question ;)

You have to flash CWM to either use your package without signing or sign it for your own satisfaction. Although you could ask Samsung to sign the update.zip for you :D or even better: for their private signing key :sly:

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

But this is not permanent, is it? That would be a great idea. I posted the error and the "work-around" in the guide. In case of an error you could flash again with odin. CWM has more features and allows you to flash zip files (and do much more), though you should really decide it own your own.

Good. Then root and use it! You need to flash a full service rom (see here) If your phone is already rooted just type su and do what you want ;) Else flash my posted pre-rooted image. In the CM thread from flx were some updates and he fixed a few issues. That CM f*cks up your phone goes really...

Maybe your sdcard is damaged. Do a low level format with your manufactures tool.

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

Imho linking every program to the primary first partition of the sdcard is a security risk. That's why I recommended the usage of Link2SD. And btw it's not a trivial task: you'd have to resign every android app for that small change... It was said the cache partition is used for the downloading...

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

Let's a assume you have a 16 GB card: shrink the first partition to about 13.xx GiB and create the second primary with 2 GiB in size (, which is fair enough). If you leave space between it's okay though it's a waste :)
  29. T

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

I wouldn't follow that guide you linked in every step because you could just resize/shrink your current partition (to the beginning of your sdcard). Afterwards add a new primary partition after the previous one as described in the guide. You can copy your files back onto your sdcard where you want.

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

You can link (move) the apps with Link2SD to the second partition of your sdcard. If you haven't created it yet, just follow the guides (google them). In Link2SD is an option to link every new app which is to be installed - you should definitely enable it if you'd expect it to work that way :sly:

  35. T

    Post [Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 2 GT S 7710

There's a chance that you could brick your phone, though nobody has reported this in this thread. I haven't used kies... You assumed right. It's the only known possibility to enable the su libraries. (The root user is already there on the/every stock ROM :sly:) That's not true.

    Yes.
