You can ask them to install KitKat/Lollipop. Asus has the Intel Flash Tool package that let them flash between Lollipop and KitKat.

Open up the kitkat to LP update file and have a look at the partition.tbl file. It has the partition offset down to the bytes so you can repartition with gdisk
