    Thread Recent Development

So I read in another thread that "development for [this phone] is pretty much dead." I haven't checked in for a very long time, like since a few weeks after launch. I was wondering what the extent of modding was with the AT&T S7 Edge without tripping Knox. I'm mainly concerned with not disabling...

I had the AT&T update app disabled with Package Disabler Pro since day one. Should I bother to take this update? Sent from the seventh galaxy on XDA Premium.

I'll thank you when your solution isn't to disable a feature I use all the time. I think it's more likely what the other poster said about my fingerprint being read.

    Thread Major security issue

Can anyone else confirm that while the phone is locked, you can double-click the home button to launch the camera, wait a few seconds, hit the back button, and the homescreen will appear without a fingerprint scan or pattern unlock?

Would it still have happened if you flashed that kernel-only Kali NetHunter zip? Or is that a bad idea to even try since it's a different model? He mentioned dm-verity not being an issue on custom kernels, or that could just be to stop it from boot looping.. Not sure if that would affect Knox...

Did you use Odin to install TWRP and/or SuperSU? Or just stock recovery? Oh and did you install the Kali NetHunter kernel? Just want to make sure that isn't required for that to make it work. Thanks in advance!

I think the most the wrong modem will do is just not connect or see weird behavior. Not typically a brick risk. But still should be careful. You never know what it would try to change that would be impossible or a pain in the ass to fix.

I can confirm that Wi-Fi is working for N and AC on all channels after using that fix. Only quirk now is that it's still only connecting at 200 Mbps instead of the usual 433 Mbps, but at least it's working now.

I'd be careful with bootloaders on a thread where people from multiple carriers are using the same ROM. For example, flashing a non AT&T bootloader onto an AT&T S4 could give you a brick. Make sure you know which device you have and if the device you got the bootloader from is compatible with yours.

    1) You charge the other item at the same time as the first item. It requires no additional time. 2) If your phone died from a dead battery it would turn off anyway 3) Even if you only had a pocket to carry an external battery instead of a backpack or something similar, I did it for years with...

Yea it's usually a "don't expect more than x" type of thing to cover their asses. In the case of the microSD cards though 32 GB cards were probably just not available in that size when they listed the specs but were based on the same technology, so they worked. 64 GB might have given you an...

So does anyone else break into a cold sweat at the thought of hacking an $800 device that can't be battery-pulled in an emergency? Not to mention if the battery dies mid-day you can't swap it for a fully charged one. There are methods of mitigating this inconvenience but there is really no...

I just wanted to clarify that if anyone has problems with the channel width at 20/40 MHz, it can be lowered to the default 20 MHz but you'll get less than half the link speed as you'd get with it set to 20/40 MHz. Some devices might not support bonded channels.
