I also uninstalled and reinstalled all the Samsung apps (Gear, Gear plug in, Accessory manager) and it prompted a soft reset on the watch. It then accepted updates to apps as well as installing apps. Good to have the functionality for going forward, but for now the appstore for the Gear S2...

This update is KILLING my battery! Just sitting idle I get like 4-5 hours from a full charge. An app called wake lock detector is showing Google Maps as a major culprit, doing a partial wakelock over 500 times in 3 hours! Anybody have this issue as well?

When I spoke to ATT'S warranty people, they mentioned that the refurbished devices are done by the manufacturer. Not sure if that's a bunch of hooey, but I'll give it a shot rather than sending it off to Sammy

I agree. Since. 27 my tablet is as stable as it ever was on HC. Other than it is getting a little dated it's working as I would expect it should.

I've never seen such a helpful forum as this. If I had the time & inclination to tinker like the people here I'd be here asking for help. It's amazing to me how many folks actually tinker with kernels, ROMs, etc. Not enough time on this planet to bother with that for me, but interesting to observe

The randomness of problems on stock . 24 is amazing. I've had mine on since Friday, so about 60 hrs up time with no issues including no gmail crashes. I haven't had any rr or SOD problems with 24 but have never gone this long without having to reboot it myself due to gmail being non functional...

Other than occasional problems with Gmail, caused, I assume by something I've seen called "open GL", I have no other issues with stock, unrooted. 24. Would it still be advisable to root and install or flash (whatever it's called) another kernel?

I agree with the above post, but re: hassle. I'm sure that rooting & installing another kernel would take minutes, but its the research on how to do it that takes the time.

I'm going to try this. What the heck do those transitions do anyway? If disabling them "cures" the freezing and fc issues with Gmail, maps, and Sygic, then I'll be a happy camper.

Regarding opn GL issues, I am currently traveling and using Sygic extensively and it will definitely freeze or just FC if using it "hard".. Such as zooming in and out, moving the map around to get bearings, etc. Very annoying and potentially a big problem if in a jam. Not sure if that behavior...

Update: traveling in parts of old E Germany and again the transformer is indispensable Got me to the hotel through some winding small roads that would've been a pain without it. The large screen is also great when it's unsure whether to turn or not. We'll see the map quality in the CR soon. GPS...

Good for you, but where I would agree that they have almost eliminated the RR & sod issues, the problem with gmail and maps is totally unacceptable and actually worse imo than an occasional shutdown or reboot
