GBCW(Sort of)
I've moved on from my Note3 and Verizon on to the Note Edge and Sprint. I'm still keeping my Note3 as 'utility tablet' and will keep it update with Jasmine ROM. Thanks to HSBADR for the great ROM and support and thanks to all here in this forum.
If I'm not mistaken the GalCam1 and GalCamNX never were upgraded from 4.1, and the GalCamNX was an almost $2000 camera. So no, I don't anticipate that Samsung will upgrade to Lolipop.
If you are using a virtual Jasmine ROM in Multisystem(while not recomended) you can copy the renamed img file to multisystem/system/img, update config, select the new ROM, reboot. Since you are not doing a full wipe there could be issues that might arise, I've yet to find any though. I've done...
I didn't have that problem, I installed the last 2 versions of Jasmine ROM by copying the renamed system.img file to the multisystem/system/img folder. Update config, select rom and reboot. Titanium seems to work OK. YMMV.
The wife and I have been discussing leaving Verizon altogether. Verizon and Samsung seem to be marketing their phones to a corporate market(or BYOP). I mentioned to the kid about my disappointment in the Note5; she currently has an iPhone 6 and said she missed having a removable batter and...
I'm happy with my Note3 on Jasmine, but I don't see it getting an upgrade to Marshmallow. The note 5 is out of the question, I'd like a Note4(but the Verizon retail version doesn't appear to be rootable). I've got time, the Nexus on the Verizon site seems to be a bit light in the hardware...
I'd also point out the advantage of using MultiSystem is that if you have a xposed module that goes sideways you always have stock to fall back to and not lose root.
I've heard that the speed difference between the built in memory and a SD card might preclude the provision of a SD card, I remain somewhat unconvinced of this argument. Would an OTA dongle also not be allowed? It seems that you could put the SD card slot on the usb bus and while slower than...
I've heard rumors going both ways on whether the Note 5 will have an SD card or not, I guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks. I agree a phone without a SD card is a non-starter for me. If the Note 5 doesn't have a SD card, I was thinking of a Note 4(though I really liked the Note 4 edge...
Yes.
I followed the instructions and the install of Jasmine 5.1 worked fine. I wasn't able to see any ROMs in MultiSystem, hitting install within MultiSystem solved the problem. Thanks hsbadr, I works well and was pretty easy to install.
I had to Update Configurations before the Jasmine 5.1...
That's why I said, "if it's only a software issue". I've seen comments saying it doesn't have a WiFi antenna, as well as some saying it can use the BT antenna for WiFi.
I should note that I just attempted to flash the rom file via stock recovery, I didn't attempt to flash the repartition files via mfastboot. That was a risk too far to take out of my current state of knowledge about motos. I have a feeling that would also not work and would have a greater...
And... It's option 2. It fails on verifying the package and aborts. No harm, no foul. So we wait for a few weeks/months(I've heard as late as August) for Verizon to come out with their OTA.
What's holding me back right how is determining if there's a pathway back in case something goes badly. I see three outcomes(ordered good to bad): everything works and I'm on Boost mobile, it refuses to do anything, and it messes up. I want to be prepared for the last possibility. I seen...
No, I just copied it over to the phone. I've been re-reading the Android Forums thread to make sure I'm not missing anything. These phones are my first non-Samsung devices(I don't count the ol' Vizio), and the Moto world's a bit different. I want to reduce the chance of making any unforced...
I'm using them as mini-tablets(WiFi only, so the radio is not important), I got 2 of them at Best Buy for $40 each. One is in the kitchen and is a home automation switch/ip camera. I've not deployed the 2nd one, so I could try it on that one.
That'd be my guess as well, I'm just trying to ascertain the probability of creating a paperweight(a nice one though). If it fails on the outset, the probability is low.
I'm wondering what the downside, other than the obvious(creating a paperweight), would be on flashing the Boost software on a XT1028 on 4.4.4. Would it just fail and remain the same, or if not could one back out by flashing the Verizon 4.4.4 firmware...
It looks like someone looking for the xt1028 4.4.2 rom over there last month and has had no responses.

Another idea is to use the XT1031 LP leak, see this tread...
From what I've gathered, the only way to unlock the bootloader with 4.4.4 is via sketchy means(send $45 to a guy in China). If you can downgrade to 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 you can root and send $25 to the 'taco vendor in Sequim'(use Sunshine), and unlock the bootloader. Since I have not activated the...
I think you're correct, especially about 4.4.4 being impervious; but good luck finding 4.4.2 firmware. I've been looking and all I've found are a bunch of dead links.
I'm using a Wink/Wemo based home automation system using tasker/autovoice/autoware and I've seen no difference between Kitkat and Lolipop. I've noticed a significant improvement in battery life.
I was also having horrible battery life after I upgraded to Jasmine 5.0. Unified Deamon was taking an extraordinary amount of battery power. I froze that an I'm getting the best battery performance I've had with my Note.
I'm happy with the Zen watch; I only have found a few issues, one being the BT range is just a little too short. WiFi would have helped with that, but I'm still very happy with it.
Thanks much hsbadr! Got JR5.0 installed and it works great(I'll let the battery settle before I make any judgments on that front).
I ran into two problems(with solutions!):
First, the S-View wouldn't display a custom background, only colors on a pattern. I found this solution and it works...
Wow, that's pretty fast discharge. While I'm rooted, I'm not taking any measures to optimize battery usage. I'm maybe getting less than 1% per day with the current update. What's using power on your camera?
I also do not use the stock launcher on any of my Samsung devices. I use lightning launcher on the camera(as well as my notes). The reason I like pie controls is that you gain extra screen space when you're using the launcher(no nav bar). So far, that's my only use of root, that could change...
NK4 and rooting
I just finished the upgrade to NK4. I was trying to keep root through survival mode in Superuser Pro, but I ended up having to reroot. The upgrade via kies took about a hour. I attempted to re-establish root via Superuser but was unable to do so. I ODIN'ed the CF-autoroot...
I don't have a solution, but the reason there is a limit is to avoid classification as a video camera which has higher duties(import taxes). I'v seen discussion of this issue on my phone(Note3) and don't remember if there's a workaround.
Thanks for the preview video. It looks quite nice. I'm still on 1.9 after using 2.x for a while since I couldn't stand the S5 S-view. I'll be sure to give 2.5 a try. Thanks for the wonderful ROM.
Mohammed's Mod
I'm using Mohammed's S-Note3 mod with a Samsung S-View cover. It works great! One nice thing it add is shortcuts that you can put up to 6 contacts. The one problem I've had with S-View is with versions of S-Heath other than the version that in the 1.9 Jasmine(2.5 I think) the...
It's unclear from your question if you are having a specific issue with the 2.3.x s-view or dislike it entirely. I fell into the later category, I disliked the s5 s-view with the intensity of 1000 suns. I reverted back to 1.9.
The changed the battery display on KitKat. If you're thinking of XBattery Themer, it won't work unless you modify the systemui, apk.
