    The bad news is that going back to the TWRP that worked was a no go given my inability to re-access fastboot. The good news is that Walmart did an exchange no questions asked. Thanks for all of your help, guys!

    D'oh, probably should have mentioned that - Mate SE BND-L34. At this point I can get to the EMUI recovery screen, and can wipe cache, factory reset, etc, but all roads end up back at the "Your device is booting now..." I thought I had successfully culled the most up to date info I could find...

    So the bootloader unlocked flawlessly, and TWRP installed without a hitch, however after flashing Magisk and no-verity-opt-encrypt-4.1 in TWRP, I end up stuck on the Your device is booting now... screen. Tried to install the stock Oreo from this guide...
