That means you aren't sim unlocked. Call the carrier to see if they'll do it for free. If not, try a 3rd party service.

Have you tried a 3rd party unlocking service through Google or ebay? I think XDA maintained a list at one point...no idea if they still do.

It's really not a big deal to set SElinux to permissive, apply theme, set SeLinux to enforced. Not ideal, but it's only a few commands.. . or taps if you download SeLinuxModeChanger for the GUI.

Once again, the problem is dm_verity. We can make all the progress in the world on root (and some may argue we already have) and it won't make a lick of difference until there is a method to disable the verity function. For all intents and purposes, there is no progress and there probably never...

Use gps only mode. Problem solved. Also keeping the phone portrait or landscape with the power button facing up also seems to help if you insist on using high accuracy mode. Just one of the many glitches still unaddressed on a so called flagship.

We have root. Whether root is temporary or permanent is a function of unraveling the dm_verity security feature. Figure that out and you have figured out permanent root.
