I'm having this conundrum as well. I currently use MM on my Nexus 7 2013 due to better idle time and more reliable WiFi. It seems like there is no way to fix this vulnerability without moving to Nougat.

I'm eager to learn about this as well. Since I run Marshmallow on my Nexus 7 2013 due to better standby time, can this be vulnerability be patched via a kernel update or will I be forced to move to Nougat?

Is there a reason that DRM (Netflix) works on Oreo but not Nougat?

I have the same settings on Nougat but have found that standby is noticeably worse compared to MM. I'm not quite sure why.

Is anyone getting WiFi drops? I woke up today to my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013, both running LineageOS 14.1, dropping WiFi after a few seconds of being connected. I haven't seen this issue on my laptops or my iPhone.

Is it bad if mpdecision is not running? I'm running the unfixed r29 on Lineage and mpdecision doesn't seem to work. However, my device seems to be faster and run cooler than other kernels. I know mpdecision on the Nexus 5 made the phone run hotter than normal. Wondering if this is the case here.

I can't find the setting to modify Quick Settings Tiles in the May 23 build. Is this feature not present in the ROM?

Does the latest ElementalX work for Marshmallow ROMs? This is the case for other kernels but wasn't sure for this one.

I'm a little confused about compatibility. The OP says that builds 97 onwards are compatible with Marshamllow and Nougat but the links are specifically lablelled for 6.0, 7.0 and 7.1. Would the latest build 104 work with Marshamallow?

I just posted this in the Nexus 7 2013 thread but also wanted to post it here since I have the same issue with the Nexus 5. I'm using SlimROM and whenever I install the kernel, the preset 0-1 is set for the cores option. No matter what I do, only 2 cores come online. If I set it to 0-3, all 4...

I have an issue where only two cores are active at a time on SlimROM . If I change the 'CPU Cores' option which is by default on 0-1 to 0-3, all 4 cores are active constantly and the tablet doesn't shut any of them down. What am I doing wrong?

Do not buy the 5X. It has lots of lag issues due to 2 GB RAM with a 64 bit processor and the entire 5X subreddit is complaining about bootloops. The Nextbit Robin is a better choice; same SoC as the 5X but with an extra GB of RAM to avoid lag. There are numerous custom ROMs and great support...

Running the December 24 build with virtually no issues. Only problem is the max CPU frequency resetting; stock 2.3 GHz works for me though. This is the only up-to-date CAF kernel that I know of with GPU overclocking. Thanks to the dev!

I would personally shift the voltages all together. 775 mV is the default min voltage for the kernel. For me, 775 was not stable. The Nexus 5 stock kernel comes with a min voltage of 800 mV.

The default Nexus 5 voltage is 800 mV on the lowest frequency. Check if you get reboots at the default voltages. My device is poorly binned so I get reboots if I go below 785 mV.

Interesting that people always say the Honor has a better camera when it doesn't have 4K recording; a feature that showed up in 2013.

The Axon 7 has a 2 year warranty vs. 1 for the OP3T so the support argument is not clear-cut.

No reboots on my Axon 7 with the 'Big' CPU cluster and GPU overclocked. Haven't overclocked the 'little' cluster to save battery.

I've personally found that HDR works quite well in low light, sometimes making the shot look brighter than real life. The only annoying part is keeping the phone steady to avoid blur.

As per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, it's illegal in the US for a manufacturer to void the warranty for modifying a product unless the modification was the cause of the defect. The burden of proof that the modification caused the defect is on ZTE.

The Nexus 5 did not have lesser specs than flagships back in the day. It was one of the first devices with the Snapdragon 800 and was cutting edge at the time compared to the other flagships which still had Snapdragon 600 CPUs.

Oh OK. The only reason I was wondering is that I had some freezing/lag with mpdecision and thought it was due to only two cores being online. The lag is gone with the "default" custom hotplugging though...

I have an issue with this kernel. Regardless of whether I have hotplugging on are not, my phone only keeps two cores active when I'm in the EX kernel manager app. Very rarely, a third core will come on if I swipe down the notification shade but the fourth core never seems to come on.

My Nexus 5 has become very sluggish when installing and uninstalling apps. It will almost freeze and become unresponsive for a few seconds before becoming normal again. I'm wondering if the storage is degrading...anyone have any suggestions? I would rather not upgrade since none of the other...
