Subject line.
I am running Lineage 13 right now, but this is a general question. I haven't fiddled with Android Pay in a while but I want to try to get it to work. Apparently as of about 6 months ago Android Pay doesn't work on some phones with unlocked bootloaders. Is there a work around...
I was asking you to clarify what you meant by "won't boot" since that could mean multiple things, but it doesn't matter if you already sent the phone back. Glad you have the extended warranty.
I would flash the system.img for KXA21.12-L1.26.1 and then take the updates, then re-root once you get Lollipop installed.
You can get the factory images from Motorola:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
You might have to wait a day or so for...
Hey bud, when you say the phone won't boot do you mean you can't even boot into the bootloader, or do you mean the screen goes black after the boot animation?
If it's the latter the same thing happened to me today and I know how to fix it.
No, I gave up and just restored the TWRP backup I had made of the stock 4.4.4 rom. With luck we won't have to wait too long for Verizon to get their act together and let the update go out.
So I finally got around to trying this out on my XT1060. I flashed the firmware for the XT1053 Lollipop version 5.1 with the radios from the most recent Kit Kat build for the XT1060.
Everything works perfectly fine with no issues, and one nice thing is you can activate tethering without...
CDMA is the "3G" technology that Verizon uses, it's pretty much obsolete though... the XT1060 does have a CDMA radio, but I only use LTE. Verizon uses different bands for LTE than the other carriers though, so I know for a fact that the radios for the XT1053 won't work and I'm not going to...
I live in the USA and I have Verizon so I need working radios for Verizon LTE. I don't think the AT&T ones will work for Verizon LTE.
But didn't you say that you don't live in the USA, you don't have Verizon, and you don't use LTE?
Has anybody tried flashing the firmware for XT1053 Lollipop release on the XT1060 and then flashed the Verizon radios from the 4.4.4 release?
I'm getting tired of waiting, and if I remember correctly I was able to do something similar while waiting for Verizon to release the original 4.4...
I installed the .zip but in system settings it still says my system version is 212.166.3.ghost_verizon.Verizon.en.US
Is anybody else seeing this?
EDIT: I think I'm good, Build number is KXA21.12-L1.26-3
Thanks for the help. I wish he left the deprecated file up because if I remember correctly I was able to adapt it myself to work with the 4.4.4 update.
I was able to set myself up by deleting all of the VZW apps in Root Explorer and using an Xposed module to enable native tethering. There are...
Hi y'all.
I recently broke my XT1060 and I just got a replacement.
Previously I had used a flashable zip to remove all of the VZW bloat and enable free tethering, but I didn't have that file backed up.
Could anybody share a similar file that would work to De-VZWify my XT1060 running 4.4.4...
Just a tip for you guys - it seems that Flappy Bird runs extra slow at the Xoom, making it much easier to rack up a good score. At least it does on mine running the latest 4.4.2 OmniRom.
Have you tried using Motorola's mfastboot.exe? I've had to use that instead of the regular fastboot to flash large system images to my Moto X, I'm curious if it would work for the repartitioned Xoom. Apparently it breaks the image down into two parts to get around size limitations with the...
When I did it I already had Google Calendar installed from the Play Store and I hadn't disabled the stock Calendar. I've also done it with the stock Calendar removed and only the Google Calendar from the Play Store installed and it worked.
I don't think that disabling the stock Calendar before...
That's the least of my worries! Almost every site that I visit that used to rely on Flash video now has HTML5 video that is viewable in Chrome. I hate to say it but ultimately Steve Jobs was right about Flash.
I've had this problem on multiple builds and it drove me crazy. To fix it go to Settings > Apps > All and select Calendar Storage, then clear data. Either calendar should work without issue after doing this.
This is great, thanks so much!
I noticed that unlike the native tether solution for 4.2.2 this one still shows the "Checking subscription status" toast notification when activating tether - does this mean that Verizon is being notified everytime I am activating tether even though the check is...
No luck, thanks though. I had tried copying the ro.cdma values from the build.prop of the latest VZW build and the only ones that were missing from that one that yours had were the ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric & ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha values. I tried adding those in and it didn't work...
Right... but how do I set it to that?
The build prop from the T-Mobile leak has:
ro.telephony.default_network=9
The value on the last official VZW build has:
ro.telephony.default_network=10
I thought that changing this value to 10 might have been the key to getting lte/cdma to be the...
Does anyone with a VZW Dev edition know what the trick is to getting CDMA calls/data to persist without needing to manually set the preferred network type after every reboot? I think that the above is part of the solution, but not the whole story. I was able to get this working on the previous...
It worked for me too. I have a VZW Dev Edition and calls and data still work just fine after flashing these files (you still have to set the network to LTE/CDMA on a reboot).
The fastboot commands to flash the two files are:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn...
Does anyone have any insight into how we can disable the tethering subscription check? I tried modifying the framework-res.apk (changing one line of code) and that sent me into a bootloop.
The issue was that you didn't change the permissions of the build.prop to rw-r--r-- in your file manager before rebooting. This is a must for most system files.
You could also use adb:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /system/build.prop /system/build.prop.bak
cp /sdcard/build.prop...
Verizon Dev Edition users:
If you replace the T-Mobile build.prop with the VZW build.prop and switch the preferred network mode to CDMA/LTE or GSM/CDMA/LTE then you can access both voice and data (3G & 4G LTE) on this ROM. This takes some finagling.
You can flash this...
Google Now crashing
On both the latest update as well as the previous one whenever I run Google Search/Google Now it crashes within a second or two. Is anybody else having this problem?
I'm truly astounded at how well this runs. I have a Galaxy Nexus now, so my Droid is relegated to WiFi-only alarm clock status. I've removed all the phone/telephony apps from /system/app and I've managed to get all the gapps onto the /system partition. It runs great. The phone is pretty much...
I just got one of these DODOcases and I'm really impressed with it. The adhesive is surprisingly strong, once you have the Nexus 7 in place it does not budge a millimeter. I'm very partial to the low profile that this case offers. The 'smart cover' functionality works just as expected. It's...
The Google Play store now gives the option of renting or purchasing many movies and TV shows in HD as well as SD versions. I recently bought the Nexus 7 so I've been slowly beefing up my library by buying some HD movies. The problem is that when I play them on my Xoom, it plays the SD version...
Not that much prying is really necessary, the battery cover is obviously built to be removed/replaced easily as described in this thread. I don't think there are any warranty implications with removing the battery cover. Taking out the foam might cross the line but I'm not sure. I don't see...
I too ended up with a Nexus 7 with a loose screen. I looked for it immediately after unboxing it, so I'm not sure how noticeable it would have been if I hadn't already been aware that this was a potential issue. Popping off the back is SUPER easy, but definitely use something plastic like a...
Go to: Settings > Language & Input > Voice Search, tap Download offline speech recognition, and download the desired languages. Restart Google Now and the Voice Search should work.
I have wiped data and I'm glad that that fixed my issue with calendar syncing. Unfortunately Flash video is no longer working for me on CNN.com (the only site I've tried). It was working on one of the earlier EOS releases before I wiped data. I'll report this on the EOS site but I wanted to...
Actually, the title DOES imply crashing or stuttering. If you say your car overheated, it usually means smoke was billowing out from under the hood.
So your phone feels a little warm to the touch. Big deal. This DOES NOT qualify as a "problem".
NEXT.
Thanks for confirming what we've already known for years. Care to explain your thought process in deciding that this should be posted in the development sub-forum?
