Post [XOOM2/XYBOARD] Motorola Xoom 2/Xyboard Latest OTA News

I have a UK wifi Xoom 2 ME, and I'm in Australia. Not rooted. (Yet) I've been waiting patiently for this update, and then last night I got curious about the people who mentioned they might have been selected for this updated based on their membership on the Motorola forums, and/or device...

    Post Task Killer

With the exception of some which mess with swappyness, most memory boosters generally work exactly the same way as a task killer. Seriously, you have a smartphone with 1Gb of ram, you really don't need to do anything to optimise memory usage. Android really is very good at this all by itself...

Post [Q] How can I get the matching Dock icons

Unfortunately I think you might have to install a different launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro to get this functionality. Doesn't seem to be possible with the stock launcher included in Cog.

    Post Task Killer

I suspect you may be referring to the fact that the SGS2 shares it's main memory with the GPU, resulting in the total ram available to android being lower than the advertised 1Gb. Don't worry, that's normal. If not, you'll have to provide some more details on your question. Also, Task...

    Post AOSP Lockscreen

Sometimes you just can't get what you want... Unfortunately the lockscreen on android is pretty well integrated with the rom you're running. Either you replace it with something like WidgetLocker, which basically disables the stock lockscreen, and replaces it with its own. Or you need to...

Post [Q] Several questions around the device & battery

Ok, I'll bite. 4. I just use usb mass storage mode. Just plug in via USB, and select the option on your phone to enable mass storage mode. I didn't install any of the Samsung crapware. You can copy any files you like to the device this way. 5. No, the stock lockscreen only shows new SMS...

    Post [CM7/CM6]Battery drain fix | Build #9 | 2011-03-18 | merged to cm7

Ah, that's perfect! :) Tells me exactly what has changed in each nightly. I'll keep an eye on it, and if anything significant changes, I'll know I should update.

    Post [CM7/CM6]Battery drain fix | Build #9 | 2011-03-18 | merged to cm7

I'm using CM7RC2. With #5, battery life was great. With #7? It's by far the best battery life I've ever managed to achieve with my DHD. I haven't bothered to try the nightly builds because I haven't seen the need. Can anyone report on what's changed in the latest builds?

    Post [CM7/CM6]Battery drain fix | Build #9 | 2011-03-18 | merged to cm7

Sorry, 'seems' is all I can do for the moment. I flashed the hrdfkn update, and had it running for the best part of a morning, while keeping an eye on the current widget logs. It seemed that it wasn't dropping back into the sub-10mA range, so I re-flashed cm7rc2, and then applied Mad's #5...

I tried both, and mad-murdock #5 seems to give me markedly better results.

    Post Fülle wipe

I'm not sure about your internet shortcuts, but I know the wallpaper selection is backed up with your google account, so whenever you re-signin after wiping, it'll restore it from there. As for your battery drain, I have to say that 5 - 7mA is not terrible at all for AR. I know I was getting...

Post Touch Screen Unresponsive Gap ( a few seconds )

That doesn't sound like a common issue, and it's possible you might have a hardware defect with your phone. I'd flash it back to stock, or as close as you can find, and take it back to wherever it was purchased for a replacement or repair.

    Post Slider for No-Sense

It sounds like you're looking for an Android Revolution HD specific add-on, and if you can't see it on the main mod thread, then it probably doesn't exist. If you want that Sense style lock screen, you could always leave sense installed, and just install Launcher Pro over the top? Otherwise...

Post [Q] Reasons for flashing a new radio

My understanding is that the radio firmware manages and controls the wifi, bluetooth, cell radios and other low level hardware functionality. When someone designs a ROM, it makes sense for them to pick a radio and stick to it unless they have obvious issues, as a different radio version can...

    Post [Q] A few questions

Sense is a layer over stock android created by HTC with the intent of improving on the usability, aesthetics, and conformity, of HTC android devices. As such, it adds menu and launcher themes, and a suit of applications which replace some of the standard android ones. Things like the camera app...

    Post stable nightly RC

Any noticeable differences between RC2 and the latest nightly? The only bug I've noticed with RC2 so far is the occasional freezing in landscape mode after finishing a call. Easily resolved by locking and unlocking the rotation though, so hasn't been an issue.

Post [Q] What can you tell me about clockworkmod recovery

You're correct, but just to clarify for the OP, you're talking about two very different methods of backup here. The first, 'nandroid backup' or recovery, is an exact backup of the state of your phone, including the current ROM you're running, all of your settings, apps installed, and all of your...

Do you have 900Mb free on your internal phone memory, or your microSD card? Downloading apps will require free internal memory.

    Post stable nightly RC

I can highly recommend CM7 RC2 with the Battery drain fix (#5) by mad-murdock. I've been running it for the last 2 days, after coming from Android Revolution 3. It's fast, stable, and very light-weight. Camera and video recorders work, however they're not quite as polished as the HTC...

Post Replace camera app on CM7?

I was looking for exactly the same thing. Installed CM7RC2, and the only thing I've found lacking was the camera app, which just doesn't come close to the one on the stock HTC rom. I've just tried out Camera360, and been looking at reviews for Camera ZOOM FX, but both seem to be focused on...
