    Post [ROM][7.1.2][OpenKirin's RROS v5.8.4 For Honor 8 ][ Update 12/08/2017 ]

You're welcome, a number of people have tried it and no complaint so far, so hopefully you'll be fine :) As for the battery life though, this is kind of a lost cause on the OpenKirin-based ROMs for the Honor 8, the standby power usage is high and I've given up on figuring out why exactly, most...

    Post [ROM][7.1.2][OpenKirin's RROS v5.8.4 For Honor 8 ][ Update 12/08/2017 ]

This is due to an issue with the location provider service when the GPS is enabled (including High accuracy mode). I made a hack that works around the issue and has been working fine so far, see: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/rom-t3606257/post73857894#post73857894

Thanks for your kind words! This was a major nuisance for me as well, but going back to stock was a big no-no for me (I'm very biased towards vanilla AOSP, and EMUI is all but that), so I knew I had to give it a shot. Surprisingly a few hours of hacking were enough to find a way forward, and I...

    Post [ROM][New][Unofficial] OpenKirin's LineageOS 14.1 for Honor 8

Hi guys, a quick heads-up in case some of you are still affected by the GPS-related reboot issue. I am a RROS user and I found a way to prevent system_server crashes caused by the FLP HAL, which is what causes the random reboots when using the GPS. This proved to be reliable for me and others...

To be honest, I started digging into the GPS issue mainly because 1. I was really bothered by it and 2. I had a clue about where to start. Regarding the signal issue, it looks like it's mainly a UI issue, and that's really not my domain ;)

Nah I'm just an Android hacker with too much time in his hands, but I appreciate the compliment anyway, haha :D Sure, go ahead, I posted this here so that it could help as many people as possible! My understanding is that most LOS-based ROMs are impacted as well, so maybe I should mention this...

Hi guys, I have some great news, which I'm sure many of you will be interested in: after getting fed up with not being able to use the GPS, and finally getting to take a closer look at the crashes, I have found a workaround to avoid system_server crashes while using GPS or High accuracy...

ØG_SQUAÐ frenchtouch92 AOSP Camera *should* be able to record videos, at least it did on RR 6.x, I yet have to try on this release. The trick is to flash RR then OpenGapps *full*, not stock, so that it doesn't replace AOSP Camera with Google Camera. But again, I haven't checked it works on this...

RR 6.x had a similar issue, and it looks like 7.x still does. The only camera app that manages I could get to record videos is AOSP Camera (not Google Camera!). For photos I use OpenCamera without issues (except the occasional FC).

I've got the same problem. As other people have described, apps using the GPS seem to randomly trigger soft reboots (in my case that's Ingress), and the FPS stops working until I manually reboot. The crash happens in the same place as shown in your tombstone, the stack trace is exactly the same.

Hi guys, I finally got around to upgrading my FRD-L09 to RR 7.1, there were some pitfalls along the way but it's finally up and running!! Special thanks to faeArai, Rommco05 and adriansticoid who gave me very useful pointers before I took the plunge :D Since I myself had trouble figuring out...

Post New firmware B389 for FRD-L09

Yep, I'm on the old RROS (M-based). I think that's clear now, thanks :) Regarding the stock recovery, do I need to flash it? If so, how?

Post New firmware B389 for FRD-L09

Again, I am not on EMUI, I am using a custom ROM. I guess it boils down to flashing B131 as discussed in the other thread, then use the system updater to go to the latest EMUI 5.x, then unlock the bootloader / flash TWRP / flash RROS. Am I missing something? Do I need to relock the bootloader...

Rommco05: thanks redirecting me to the right thread. Not sure what you mean by System Updater? I'm not on EMUI, and I can't remember what version I had before flashing RR 6 (that was in December). If I relock the bootloader, will it automatically restore a stock EMUI?

    Post [ROM][7.1.2][OpenKirin's RROS v5.8.4 For Honor 8 ][ Update 12/08/2017 ]

Thanks Rommco05 and faeArai for your answers! Given that I'm already on M, I suppose I don't need to rollback and can directly flash B131. However, coming back to Rommco05's comment, does the eRecovery method (dload folder on the SD card) work if TWRP is installed? If not, how can I flash the FW...

    Post [ROM][7.1.2][OpenKirin's RROS v5.8.4 For Honor 8 ][ Update 12/08/2017 ]

I have read about the last 10 pages, and yes it somewhat answers my question, but also leaves me quite worried that I won't do exactly the right thing. I'm sure a short guide in the OP or a separate thread would help a lot of people, at least to explain how to flash the right FW, and when...

    Post [ROM][7.1.2][OpenKirin's RROS v5.8.4 For Honor 8 ][ Update 12/08/2017 ]

Sorry, may not have been clear enough. I have already unlocked the bootloader (first thing I did when I bought my H8 in fact), and I am currently running Resurrection Remix 6.0.1, so yes a custom ROM (M-based).

    Post [ROM][7.1.2][OpenKirin's RROS v5.8.4 For Honor 8 ][ Update 12/08/2017 ]

Hi guys. Now that this ROM looks about stable, I'd like to try it out. However, I have to say that Huawei made the whole update procedure very unintuitive (why the f*** can't OEMs use fastboot!), and I'm confused about what *exactly* should be done to flash this ROM (I think the last 10 pages...
