it certainty restores boot. not sure about modem, I never touched it. you have nothing to loose flashing it. it supposed to be bone stock. just delete two lines in the script and re-save zip. you have to do wipe, wipe data, then mount, copy zip, flash, reboot. in that order, I wasted hours...

is your mate2 non-branded? consumer? I have consumer, the driver is in the phone's partition. use that.

shutdown phone, press hold vol down, then power on till you get into fastboot, plug in usb and try again.

Your phone isn't coomunicating with you computer. Make sure 1. It is in fastboot mode 2. Physically plugged to compter via USB 3. Correct driver installed Also, read instructions. You don't use adb command to unlock. Used fastboot command in fastboot mode

i flashed MT2-L03V100R001C421B132 which resorted by phone to STOCK consumer cellular. then picked up B147 OTA update.

is your phone boot loader unlocked? it must be unlocked or else how did you have root to delete system files? in that case, just boot to boot loader and flash TWRP, then get a copy of working backup from someone else.

get sim unlock code from ebay is all you need. the unlock other people are talking about is bootloader unlock which allows us to flash custom recovery and hack on roms. they are not related to sim unlock which means you can swap at&t tmobile sim cards.
