Just looked through the commit that enabled tethering. There is nothing that should've changed anything related to authentication at a quick glance? Can you get me a dmsg (cat /proc/kmsg > /sdcard/kmsg from adb shell) and I will try to narrow down the issue?

better battery life so far today than 4.1 was. 10.5 hours and still at 22 %. Not bad. Extremely stable. Everything works but wifi tether, but that is known.

those having trouble with the button remap, just reflash the kernel from this rom. newt's kernel won't work with this rom, at least not with some modification. All you need is the Settings.apk. It will screw up the Backup Assistant icon to just be a red bar tho

its not the kernel. I'm not sure what it is yet, but I think it might be related to the OTA. I've done a full upgrade, flashed firmware.zip etc. I thought it was hboot related (running modified OTA hboot, S-OFF) but now I'm not sure.

yes, there are other devs working on the project. Right now there is a bit of a hold up though, as we're waiting on one of them to acquire some more equipment. Honestly, I don't care who releases S-OFF. The team I am working with will continue to push forward regardless of what others are doing...

S-OFF took a step backward today, but if I were a betting man, I would say it will happen for sure eventually... could be weeks, could be months. its hard to say for sure.

yes thats correct. when you flash via a PH zip the phone is smart enough to know where to put the proper paritions (so long as you don't go renaming files).

because if you fastboot flash the radio.img over mdm9k or vice versa you're pretty much guaranteeing yourself a brick. Also, I think if you don't flash both at once you will brick but im not sure, just know someone who did, and I am more than happy to put my radios in a PH zip.

you need to flash the whole kernel in recovery. It has the proper libs for wifi to work (as well as video)

I I may have forgotten to take recovery out of the firmware update. (which is why you see the red !)... I will fix that. Just find your AmonRA recovery PH98IMG and flash it. It will say LOCKED unless you use the modified hboot. The new firmware updates the hboot. Look for my Unlocked 2.27 hboot...

the S-OFF checking script really only checks to make sure you have the proper kernel ramdisk... if you already flashed the earlier kernel, it will detect you as S-OFF even though you're not, and really what fixed video was an extra file in /system (vidc_1080p.fw to be exact)... so you're fine.

that is only a tiny tiny part of the equation. hex editing hboot is super tricky. When I made my modified hboot, I rechecked about 6 times (then again, I was doing more than changing text) before I flashed to my phone. And even then, it was with baited breath. ---------- Post added at 11:17 AM...

fixed video. Amazing how simple it was. Sometimes I overthink the easiest things. Just had to update one file, the firmware, which obviously is very closely related to the driver.
