Just got my S2 a week or so ago.
Got Odin
Got Image
No Root or TWRP
Plug n' Play
....
Worked like a charm, no issues on wifi (5Ghz US), didn't even format the the personal space.
Im trying to install this from a seriously old edition of android
At this point i have no real start point anymore... I've tried many things :|
I have TWRP_BigPart_Selinux installed, but I'm getting errors on install about not being able to mount the cache partition. Booting up just gives me...
Yeah, i installed the 8/17 build as an "update" to the 8/9 build ... yeah bad idea.
After it booted up, none of the data would work really. Some 3G connectivity worked, but it never went blue in the staus bar & wifi just refused to do anything but connect to a ghosted network.
So I booted into...
I have attached a logcat from aLogcat program as well as the command line you provided. Tho they were not done at the same time, they had the same result.
Ignore the 3G/4G naming convention on the Ads, they mean nothing! Your phone will auto switch depending on area. For TMO, data is data & the rest is marketing gimick

After doing a clean install (wiped /system before flash) of this, no videos seem to work. Plex & YouTube are both broken.
Any insight?

right because just about everything around here is dead links...
I've got Bootmenu to work and I managed to find some esoteric link to CM7 via google for the defy. but it is not stuck in boot at the CM7 logo circling.

I just got a Nexus 7 for my niece and while checking out the tablet i saw the Multi-User options and wanted it for my xoom as MY tablet often gets passed around the house.
OK, been surfing the form for a few hours now and not seeing some usual answer and questions.
Phone : T Mobile SGS2 -- Right out of the box.
1) Is there an Odin package that will replace the stock recovery with CWM for a brand new phone still running GB ?
2) Where is the Stock ICS ROM Odin...
Don't know if the code is available, but the Honeycomb Release for the Logitech Revue / Google TV box has the ability to mount USB storage and has a interface all built up.. granted probably not as elaborate as what many would deem needed for us Power Users.
However I mention this because it...
got 12 and then 13 installed today, easy as described no problems. Wipe, Flash #12, Flash GApps, reboot.
Only problem i had is that CWM dosn't recognize my actual SD card so i had to copy the upgrades into the internal storage. is this normal for CWM ?
if it's normal then can you guys grab...
bump...
tbh.. if i could figure out how to build this myself i would.. but there isn't any information available that i've been able to find on how to do this or where to start :|
<< Is a noob
Because if you give the people what they want, all you get is more bitching and moaning about how broken it is.
If you hold back and only give people what they need, they only ***** and moan about what they want and ignore the fact that what they have is broken to all hell

Same Question to the SGS4G forum as i asked in the Xoom :
Has anyone checked this recovery console project out? it's a GUI / TouchScreen based Android Recovery.

Has anyone checked this recovery console project out? it's a GUI / TouchScreen based Android Recovery. IMO for a tablet it makes more sense.

@drhonk
The Auto Root & Superuser.apk install aspect of these zips, does it account for the new 3.0 update to superuser.apk as seen here :
Or does it overwrite it with the older 2.x version on boot?
Request : Can we get an option to set the hostname for the phone please :)
adding in a 05userinit script doesn't seem to be working, or im doing it wrong
That's what i thought... but it wouldn't. Things would freeze up on trying to flash the new GB rom. That and it wouldn't disable voodoo, would always remain on and try to reconvert to ext4.
Ok... so the other day i soft bricked my phone with ODIN ( wrong option checked and start ). But i did that after i followed this guide to get GB-Boot / ICBINB GB / ext4 working.
To get it back i had to flash the old rfs converter, from the early days of ext4, between the KD1 and KH2 sections...
Im using CWM Red (Voodoo) from ICBNB GB Version, and it won't unmount the system partition. CWM actually starts with the system mounted & won't unmount it.
Am i doing something wrong?

@Krylon/others in the know
The Bali Kernels come with CWM Red, is it going to play nicely with RomManager now? or are we holding off on that you can get a device again?
so if we already did the ext4 conversion from the other threads here, do we need to do anything with Voodoo ?
When i flashed 3.1 on to my phone & wen't into CWM Voodoo it said it was already enabled.
?? Formatting the SD card is like taking a shotgun to a cassually locked bedroom door, yes it works, a bit overkill :) The /.android-secure folder holds the device/rom-install specific ecrypted app files. When you switch Roms (not upgrade the same rom) you have a new rom-install and thus a new...
A few things.
1) I don't think that .android-secure is properly being wiped / deleted when changing Roms. Regardless what or how. It seems to always pooch.
--one thing to try, always wipe / delete .android-secure before changing / after changing roms.
2) I think that TB is restoring the Fryo...
correct, once you have Odin'ed the GB File on with all it's extras, you then only flash on the zImage-root. Reboot & Back into Download Mode & then put the original zImage from the GB Odin back on.
Why is it that root is so damn hard when we have the images?
is there something wrong with writing a boot script into the images that installs the su app and changes the permissions/owership on it?
got my UOT Zip to install with this thing, have to manually mount system & data, then install the UOT Zip.
well, got half of it to apply. Had to go in and remove the unmount /system calls in the install script. then it worked :)
A Word of warning that should be put in the OP
While we can get android itself to run on Ext4, the rest of the device isn't setup to work with it. IE, the Stock Recovery console is going to **** a brick or 2 when you go into it. This isn't really a problem, you can still select re-install...
Here is what I did:
I started by deleting the android-secure folder because i had ignored previous restores attempts to restore that file. I also had some serious FC's on programs that i had installed previously, but with new rom's didn't show up. After installing those programs on new roms it...
