Don't see why this would be a problem if your only objective is to obtain the update. Then, you do a factory data reset, re-entering your account and re-installing all your apps. Which seems like the better way to do any update anyway as I never feel comfortable just installing the new version...

Google replaced the Bluetooth stack in 4.2 and effectively destroyed Bluetooth on many devices. Google is now trying to correct the problem and have announced that 4.2.2 will be out shortly, whatever that means, and have a fix. So I would think that no devices will be getting 4.2 for some time...

For what its worth, I sent a support request to Jawbone with a link to this thread explaining the issue. Probably won't achieve much, but worth a try I guess. At least it may make them aware of the problem.

Thanks. That's what I figured. I read that thread some time ago - sort of a dead end - not really a practical solution. You would need source code, and then the ability to self-sign could be easily revoked at any time, disabling all hacked 3rd party apps with one update.
