That didn't answer my question. If make a tar file for odin to flash that is just 'recovery.img' out of the file 'I717UCLF6_I717ATTLF6_I717UCLF6_HOME.tar' and none of the other things like boot.img, system.img.ext4, etc - and flash that with odin, will that give me stock recovery back without...

Is there no way to do just a recovery mode flash rather than a whole stock image reset? It doesn't seem to have hurt you (I assume you're running stock image + root and nothing else)? That list is only showing releases that have already hit the market (and probably had a very short 'coming soon' prior to release). This is no indicator about how far along any JB update for the note may or may not be.

Where's the info to back up that first line? I have a friend who's on an old Galaxy S and who's looking to upgrade, this would be a sweet deal for him to pick up and get into an S3 for that price. I didn't see anything special on Sprint's website at first glance.

Symbolic links don't work on a FAT based filesystem (which the SD card mounts are), unfortunately.

I was able to modify the mount point to be /storage/sdcard0/external_sd/ for the external SD slot, but when I rebooted CM it got stuck and would buzz every 10 seconds or so and stayed that way indefinitely. Not sure why this breaks CM so bad but there you have it. Oh well.

Any particular apps to recommend? I had tried issuing the remount command on / and not /system. I will give that another try.

In my original post I mention trying to get it remounted as r/w, the command doesn't complain but the filesystem stays read-only.

The resolution for me (repeatable for the other notes that CM10 was installed on as well) was to go into a sound selection for some notification, pick a sound and then click vol-up a few times while it's supposed to be playing.

Running stock + root. Quick boot helped a lot, thanks. Apparently it was my superuser setup that got mangled somehow. had to uninstall/wipe it from memory and reinstall. After that the quick boot (and TiBackup) worked. running a backup now.
