Moto care isn't a warranty though. If it says somewhere in the agreement that it is than it would be void if unlocked. I had an issue with the 14 x . the screen broke. They knew I was rooted so wouldn't replace it for free but they let me use moto care for a replacement.

I had a 14 X that moto knew was rooted but still honored a warranty claim. With all the permissions now adays its pretty easy for any company to know your rooted.

You can't unlock and you very possibly could loose root possibilities by updating.

No problem. Now I think if someone who has taken the update did a system pull of 5.1 I think that'd be helpful for the developers. You might need root for that though :/ I can't quite remember

The update has already been posted as the soak. Now a full files are needed for mofo to be tested.

It's very possible you could brick. You never take an ota on a rooted or modded device.

I sure your recovery is still there. I have problems getting into it most of the time as well. When andy shows on the screen i think its volume up then power. The timing has to be just right but i can never remember exactly.

You need rsd lite 6.2.4 and moto drivers 6.4.0 . im assumming you have adb all set up on your pc. You will also need mfastboot

If you open the xml file all the commands for fastboot should be listed. They need to be run while in fastboot mode

I believe the warranty goes with the imei #. I bought my dev edition used and when I went to get the unlock code I checked warranty status and it was covered.

Installing a custom recovery and messing with system apps will cause an ota to fail. Unlocking and SU alone won't make it fail

I'm pretty sure rooting voids warranty. To many people have borked their phones by playing with stuff they don't know and did warranty claims. You choose to play with your phone buy a new one if YOU break it.

The update is downloaded to your cache. Go there and delete the update. Oops just seen your not rooted so you can't access your cache I believe.

Yes but toggle back to media device and that should fix your issue.

You can't run adb commands while your in fastboot. Adb is when your phone is powered on with USB debugging enabled

Its just a glitch. In your cache it'd have its own folder named after the current os. Wipe cache and dalvic and you should be free of the glitch.

I heard Verizon and att 4.4.2 will waterproof the x for up to 10 minutes submersed in water or beer. That's a life changer!

The only time mfastboot is needed is usually for system.IMG that are to big. I don't believe we have that issue on the x. But nitro has mfastboot download on his site if you need it.
