Post [Q] Missed vendor.img when installing M preview

Happy to report success - well, partial success anyway. Per GedBlake, I swapped in a new machine and cable, and per simmac I made sure my binaries were updated. As it turns out, this was unnecessary: my mistake, after looking at GedBlake's screenshot was that I was not down in fastboot, I was...

Post [Q] Missed vendor.img when installing M preview

So assuming fastboot doesn't see the device, then, I'm out of options and looking at an RMA? Why would this be? I've placed both adb and fastboot both in the machine's PATH, so executing them with the ./ prefix is unnecessary. Certainly worked just fine the first time around without them.

Post [Q] Missed vendor.img when installing M preview

Unfortunately, fastboot can't see the device either: ferro$ fastboot devices ferro$ This is with the Nexus 9 connected and in fastboot mode. As for it being a driver issue, everything that I've seen suggests that specific to Windows, and I'm on Mac. Is that accurate, or are there drivers I...

Post [Q] Missed vendor.img when installing M preview

In the same boat here. Enabled USB debugging, OEM unlocked, flashed the device manually (build failed, did the .img's sequentially), now the device gets stuck on the Google logo at boot. Attempted recovery and reset, no joy. Gets stuck on the Google logo. When back in the Fastboot menu...

Post Nexus 7 to get 5.0 lollipop Nov 12th

Also bummed about the lack of deb images. I probably need to adjust my calculus for purchasing the devices in future. Part of the reason I purchase the Nexus devices in the first place is the expedited access to new Android versions. If the mobile data versions are going to lag so significantly...

    Post Moto Voice: "opening Google"

Yeah, this last update to Voice addressed the latency issues, but created a whole new set of problems as "set alarm" now just gets passed to Google instead of actually setting the alarm. If I have to actually click "Set Alarm" on the resulting Google search page, it kind of defeats the point of...

    Post Turbo charger

For anyone curious for some stats, I just got my Turbo charger and let my phone run completely dry. After a timed 15 minutes (only booted up after the 15 were up), my phone was at 29%. After a second timed 15 minute segment, it was at 57%. That's not as good as I'd hoped, but it's certainly...

    Thread Moto Assist/Voice Slower?

As a big fan of the original Moto X, which I unfortunately damaged beyond repair, a big factor for me in choosing to replace it with the 2014 version was the Moto software - specifically what used to be called Moto Assist. The ability to both detect driving and automatically read and reply to...

Post Bands by Model # per Motorola's Spec sheet

as promised earlier in this thread, have a field report on the pure edition from vermont. it's a good news / bad news kind of thing, i'm afraid. the bad news is that where i am, at least, in middlebury, vt the pure edition is not connecting to LTE - network is 4G HSPA. the good news is that...

Post Bands by Model # per Motorola's Spec sheet

I'd much rather that the Pure Edition have all the bands of the AT&T flavor, but as stated by sabbotage, it would appear AT&T only uses 2, 4 and 17 in the US anyway: List of LTE Networks

Post I have a Moto X (2014) Ask Me Anything!

Not sure about the new model, but at least with the old Moto X this was not the case. As long as the phone detects movement akin to driving it will read texts out loud, pocket or no. It's one reason I have to remember not to turn off Airplane Mode when the plane is taxiing over to the gate; I've...

Post AnandTech Review - Moto X (2nd gen)

The thing I found most notable about this review was the complete dismissal of Moto Voice. For me, this was one of the best attributes of the original Moto X, and it worked well enough to impress iPhone users with its text-message-by-voice feature that mostly "Just Worked." Mileage may vary...

Post [Q] Which Moto X ROM?

While it should have been obvious, it's worth letting people know that the AT&T ROMs disable tethering. Again, most people probably know this, but coming from Nexus devices it hadn't even occurred to me. So if there is a dev edition ROM floating around out there where this isn't disabled by...

Apologies for the dumb question, but I just wanted to be sure I have the rough sequence of flashing correct here for an America Movil XT1058 (i.e. AT&T). Assuming I want to cut over to AT&T firmware from America Movil, is this roughly what I need to do? Am I missing steps? 1. Root the Moto X...

Post Samsung GALAXY Nexus Official Introduction & Specs

just saw the the Galaxy S II Skyrocket, which has LTE support but is otherwise (IMO) an inferior phone. Seems safe to assume, now, that the Nexus isn't coming to AT&T. Here's the question: obviously the HSPA+ version of the Galaxy Nexus isn't going to be LTE compatible, and the Verizon LTE...

    Post [Q] World travel? AT&T?

Post Mounting the Xoom in Linux (as well as adb)

I've founded a working(ish) solution. This Xoom forum post details an approach that permits transfer of video/music/etc to the Xoom via Linux. Couple of caveats: 1. The gnomad2 application is very unstable. Crashes frequently. 2. It appears to be write-only: I have not been able to delete...
