#perrisiam your analogy is close. Imagine if the PC bios were password with encryption and you were trying blindly create from ground zero a new bios and then flashing it from a network computer. Almost impossible task without a few key bits of information, lots of knowledge and some luck.

That was the claim by a user a few days ago. Stated a T-Mobile rep had worked out a deal with ZTE to release the code for the boot loader to be unlocked. Nothing in stone, so it's still a waiting game.

Hopefully my uploading the update, someone will be able to discover an exploit.

T-Mobile update is rolling out. Just got the notice on two phones. I will attempt to share it when I return home in an hour or so.
