This sounds like a hardware failure and is not related to any app updates or removals (that was just a coincidence). I don't know what the screen technology is on the ativ but if it is OLED and the red/blue are stuck on, you will see "pink" (actually magenta).

I found even with the uSD, if an app has been discontinued it will not install as it checks the Store to see if the app is still valid.

The only shortcuts you can pin are connection type ones (WiFi, Bluetooth, Cell, Airplane Mode) and there are many apps in the MS store. But beyond that I don't know of any for additional Settings items (and I wish there was).

Try pulling the battery if you can for 60 seconds and then try. Otherwise, given what your phone is doing, all I can think of is a hard reset as it sounds messed up. :( P.S. If you have a recent backup try using Zune to restore to that.

Have you unloaded TouchXperience and tried installing again (TouchXperience is the App that needs to run for WPDM to run, not Touch Explorer)? Other than that I am out of ideas

Unfortunately it sounds like you have the v2 HTC driver which prevents this from working. If you have a backup from late last year try going back to it and interop-unlock using this method and then you can update and keep the unlock (but if you lose IU with the v2 you will be in the same...

Make sure you are installing the language cabs as well (you need all of the ones your phone has loaded). Read the first post carefully and include the language cabs for every version update. If you miss a language the phone function does not work.

Have you tried Windowbreak? It requires having the first gen drivers. Otherwise you have to sign up for an AppHub account (now called DevCenter).

Not sure if this is an issue but if you are trying to use Chevron Labs the tokens no longer work as of Saturday (it was revoked as of this date). Chevron Labs is no more.
